As we close out another school year, we would like to recognize five members of the Jenkins family who are beginning new chapters:

✨ Ms. Lawrence
✨ Ms. Cooper
✨ Security Officer Singleton
✨ Ms. Coberly
✨ Ms. Patrica

Each of them has made a meaningful impact on our students, staff, and school community through their dedication, kindness, and service. Their contributions have helped make Jenkins a place where students can learn, grow, and succeed.

While we will miss seeing them in our hallways, we are grateful for the time they spent with us and wish them nothing but happiness and success in all that lies ahead.

Thank you, Ms. Lawrence, Ms. Cooper, Security Officer Singleton, Ms. Patrica, and Ms. Coberly, for everything you have done for Jenkins Elementary. You will always be a part of the Jaguar family! πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ’›

Our kindergarten students have officially completed their first year of elementary school!

We are so proud of all they have learned, the friendships they have built, and the growth they have shown throughout the year. Their smiles, songs, and excitement made for a wonderful celebration as they marked this important milestone.

A heartfelt thank you to our kindergarten teachers, instructional assistants, staff, and families for helping make this year so special. Your support, encouragement, and dedication have helped these young learners thrive.

πŸŽ‰β˜€οΈ That’s a wrap on the 2025–2026 school year! β˜€οΈπŸŽ‰

Today, our Jaguars boarded their buses one last time as we celebrated the end of another amazing school year.

From the first day of school to the final bell, our students have learned, grown, achieved, and created memories that will last a lifetime. As they headed off for summer break, Jenkins staff lined the sidewalks to cheer them on and wish them a safe and happy summer.

We are incredibly proud of all that our students have accomplished this year and grateful to our families, faculty, staff, and community for their support throughout the year.

To our rising 5th graders, congratulations on reaching a new milestone. To our 5th grade graduates, we wish you the very best as you begin your middle school journey!

Have a safe, fun, and restful summer, Jaguars! We look forward to seeing you again in the fall. πŸ’™πŸΎ

Fifth Grade Promotion πŸŽ“πŸ’™πŸ’›

Last night, we celebrated the promotion of our fifth-grade students as they completed their elementary school journey and prepared to take the next step into middle school.

The evening was filled with pride, excitement, music, and special memories as students were recognized for their hard work and accomplishments. Watching them perform, receive their certificates, and celebrate with their families was a reminder of just how much they have grown during their time at Jenkins.

To our fifth graders: continue to dream big, work hard, be kind, and believe in yourselves. We are incredibly proud of each of you and know you will do great things in middle school and beyond.

Congratulations, Fifth Graders! Once a Jaguar, always a Jaguar. πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ†

πŸ“šβœ¨ Jenkins Authors Become Published Authors! βœ¨πŸ“š

We are proud to celebrate the publication of our very first student-written book, How to Be a First Grader! πŸŽ‰

Written and illustrated by members of our First Grade Sunny Smiles group and friends, with the support of Mrs. Shepard, this special book is filled with helpful advice, encouragement, and tips for success in school. β€οΈπŸ“–

Today, our young authors proudly visited Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms, as well as staff members throughout the building, to present copies of their published work. Seeing students share their creativity, leadership, and accomplishments with others was truly inspiring! 🌟

This achievement began earlier this year when the Sunny Smiles group wrote, acted in, and produced an anti-bullying video for the NNPS Youth Development Department’s STAND Month campaign. Their hard work earned them the winning prize, and they chose to use those funds to bring their book to life! πŸ†πŸŽ¬βž‘οΈπŸ“š

A special thank you to Mrs. Shepard, Ms. Brown, and the NNPS Youth Development for supporting our students and helping make this incredible opportunity possible.

We are so proud of these young Jaguars for their creativity, leadership, teamwork, and dedication. Congratulations, authors! πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸš’πŸ”§ Jenkins Students Take on the Shore to Store Engineering Challenge! πŸ”§πŸš’

A team of Jenkins students recently represented our school at the 2026 Shore to Store Engineering Design Challenge, where they put their STEM skills to the test through hands-on engineering and problem-solving activities inspired by the operations of the Port of Virginia.

Students worked together to design, build, test, and improve a cargo crane capable of moving shipping containers throughout a model container yard. Along the way, they demonstrated creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and critical thinking while applying real-world engineering concepts.

πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ Designing solutions
βš™οΈ Building and testing prototypes
🚒 Learning how goods move from ports to communities
🀝 Collaborating as a team
πŸ’‘ Thinking like future engineers

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Jenkins with enthusiasm, determination, and innovation. Thank you to our STEM partners and staff members who helped make this experience possible!

πŸ°πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ El Deafo Parade! πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ°

Yesterday, our Kindergarten students took a walk through the halls as El Deafo and friends after reading and learning about the graphic novel by Cece Bell!

Wearing bunny ears, superhero capes, and their creative projects, our young readers proudly paraded through the school while classmates and staff cheered them on with applause and high-fives. πŸŽ‰

This special celebration highlighted the power of reading, imagination, and understanding different experiences. Our kindergarteners did an amazing job bringing the story to life and sharing their excitement with the entire Jenkins community!

Way to go, Kindergarten! β€οΈπŸ°πŸ“š

πŸ“šβ˜€οΈ Jenkins Elementary is wrapping up the school year with our ABC Countdown! β˜€οΈπŸ“š

This week our Jaguars showed off their creativity and school spirit during several special countdown days!

πŸ‘— T – Triffie Togs Day brought out colorful outfits, crowns, costumes, and lots of imagination.

πŸ“– V – Visit/Vocab Day challenged students and staff to become vocabulary words, complete with creative costumes and definitions to teach others new words. From discombobulated and indignant to overstimulated, royalty, globe, and even electricity, our Jaguars brought vocabulary to life!

We love seeing our students learn, create, and have fun together as we celebrate the final days of another amazing school year. πŸ’™πŸ’›

β˜€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰ Field Day 2026: Grades 3–5 Edition! πŸŽ‰πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ˜€οΈ

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Jaguars wrapped up Field Day with a day full of fun, teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition!

Students tested their skills through relay races, tug-of-war, sack races, balance challenges, obstacle courses, inflatables, parachute activities, and so much more. Whether they were cheering on teammates, racing to the finish line, or simply enjoying time with friends, our Jaguars showed great sportsmanship and school spirit throughout the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize, supervise, and support this special event. These are the memories our students will carry with them long after the school year ends.

πŸ“Έ Enjoy some of our favorite moments from the day, and be sure to check out our Story for video highlights and behind-the-scenes fun! πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ†
