THRIVE Peninsula THRIVE Peninsula is a faith-based 501c3 non-profit helping families through financial hardship.

Formally known as Denbigh United Christian Outreach (DUCO - est. 1973), present-day THRIVE Peninsula remains among the most long-standing outreach services of its kind in its local community. THRIVE offers emergency financial assistance to help Peninsula residents maintain stable housing and employment, 1-on-1 financial coaching services, and free groceries.

This September, American Pride Automotive is putting the community in the driver’s seat with their State Inspection for the Community program!

For every state inspection completed at American Automotive during the month of September, they will donate $5 to THRIVE Peninsula to help provide food and resources to our neighbors in need. 🥫💚

And they’ve already made a BIG impact! Last year, American Pride Automotive raised $4,333 for THRIVE through this program. 🙌

As part of their Serve Week, Crossroads Community Church spent time getting hands-on in The Market at THRIVE and also assembled 40 cleaning-themed Blessing Bags at the church to share with our Market shoppers!

We love seeing groups find meaningful ways to serve together and Blessing Bags are a great project for all ages! From young kids to adults, everyone can have a role in putting together something practical and encouraging for a neighbor in need. 🧽🧹💙

Reliable transportation can make all the difference when it comes to getting to work, caring for family, and managing everyday responsibilities.

Virginia SUN Bucks helps eligible families pay for groceries during summer break. In 2026, each eligible school‑age child will receive a one‑time $120 benefit. Benefits will be added to your household’s SNAP EBT but you must apply by August 31, 2026.

🚒 A Call to Help and a Captain Who Answered. Sometimes, helping our neighbors means going above and beyond. ❤️

Late Thursday afternoon, Capt. Dorsey with the Newport News Fire Department received a call from an insurance company about a woman who was homebound and had not eaten in four days. Knowing she needed immediate help, Capt. Dorsey reached out to THRIVE to see what resources might be available.

Our team quickly packed food for the family, and Capt. Dorsey went one step further—he delivered the food himself and brought along additional information about food resources they could access.

This is what community looks like. When people and organizations work together, we can make sure our neighbors aren't facing difficult moments alone. đź’™

Serving with us, painting with us, and even helping us clear a fallen tree! 💙🌳

We’re so grateful to Waters Edge Church for spending their Serve Day with THRIVE! Their team helped us get a great start on priming the former Boys and Girls Club side as we prepare to move in. 🏠✨

And when a tree unexpectedly fell and blocked our driveway, they didn’t hesitate to jump in and help there, too! 💪

Thank you, Waters Edge Church, for showing up, pitching in, and serving wherever you were needed. We’re grateful for your partnership and excited for all that’s ahead! 💙
