๐Ÿ“Š Fact Friday:
Did you know that nearly 300 volunteers serve with THRIVE each week?

What's even more incredible is that most of our volunteers give just two hours of their time each week! Those hours add up to a tremendous impact.

Here's how our volunteers support the mission:
๐Ÿ›’ 56% serve in the Market
๐Ÿšš 11% serve as drivers
๐Ÿ™‹ 9% welcome clients and guests at the front desk
๐Ÿ’ต 7% serve as Financial Coaches
๐Ÿ”ง 9% provide specialized support through facilities, IT, bookstore, cooking demonstrations, and other skilled volunteer roles
๐ŸŒฑ 5% help in our raised bed or pollinator Gardens
๐Ÿค 3% connect families to additional community resources as a Resource Concierge

Every stocked shelf, every client served, every garden harvest, and every encouraging conversation is made possible because people in our community choose to give their time.

Thank you to each and every volunteer who shows up week after week to help our neighbors thrive. ๐Ÿ’š

BIG NEWS! ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Starting today, THRIVE is staying open late to serve more families with groceries. In fact, every Tuesday, The Market be open late, until 7pm, all summer long โ˜€๏ธ. Thanks to our new friends at Pursue Church International - every Tuesday night in June is covered with volunteers.

This is possible thanks to the incredible outpouring of generosity we saw on Give Local 757 and thanks to the amazing donations we are receiving from so many people who drop off items each week. This continued support allows us to push harder to serve the community.

Late hours are perfect for working families, whose 9 to 5 isn't enough to cover all the bills. Increasingly, these households need our support too.

Right now, things are especially tough. Food insecurity is rising, so this is our way to do more.

This is just the beginning. As support grows for THRIVE, we will grow. We will do more to expand our reach and serve more people. This year, weโ€™ve already added 5 hours of permanently expanded open hours to our schedule. What more can we do?

With your support behind us, there is no limit.

Please continue to support our work, and we will continue to step out in faith to do bold things, knowing that you stand with us.

Thanks for striving with us, our community needs us right now. We can do this together.

Behind every request for financial assistance is a family facing an impossible choice, an unexpected setback, or a moment of crisis.

At THRIVE, emergency financial assistance helps neighbors remain safely housed, keep utilities connected, and move toward stability when they need support most. These stories are a reminder that even one helping hand can change the course of someoneโ€™s future.

Thank you for helping make hope and stability possible for our community.

๐Ÿ“š Juneโ€™s Book of the Month is Fighting Words: a powerful and deeply moving story about courage, sisterhood, healing, and finding your voice. ๐Ÿ’™

Written by Newbery Honor-winning author Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, this unforgettable novel follows ten-year-old Della and her older sister Suki as they navigate trauma, resilience, and the strength of standing up for yourself and the people you love.

Why we're highlighting it:
๐Ÿ’ฌ A story about finding courage: Della has always known how to stay quiet when it mattered mostโ€”but when her sisterโ€™s pain becomes impossible to ignore, she begins learning the importance of speaking up.
๐Ÿ‘ญ A powerful sister bond: At its heart, this story is about loyalty, protection, and the fierce love between two sisters trying to heal together.
๐Ÿ“– An important conversation starter: The novel thoughtfully addresses difficult topics including trauma and abuse with compassion, honesty, and hope.
โœจ Emotionally impactful writing: Bradley balances heartbreaking moments with warmth, humor, and resilience, creating characters readers will deeply care about.
๐ŸŽ“ Recommended for middle grade and up: This book opens meaningful discussions about trust, advocacy, healing, and using your voice.
๐ŸŒŸ This monthโ€™s selection is also a Community Pick! Fighting Words has been flying off the shelves.

๐Ÿ’ญ A memorable quote from the book:
โ€œSometimes youโ€™ve got a story you need to find the courage to tell.โ€

Volunteer Spotlight: Fran Shelton

Fran has been volunteering with THRIVE for the past two years, faithfully serving twice each week on Mondays and Wednesdays. She plays an essential behind-the-scenes role, helping sort and stock incoming food donations. This includes checking for quality, removing expired or damaged items, and preparing shelves for our Market shoppers.

In addition to sorting, Fran also assists with shopping and bagging orders for customer pickup, helping ensure everything is ready for a smooth and welcoming Market experience. While she doesnโ€™t interact directly with clients, her work is a vital part of making sure families receive safe, organized, and accessible food.

Fran first learned about THRIVE through Lebanon Christian Church after hearing a meaningful presentation from Angela that inspired her to get involved. At 76, Fran is a widowed mother of three adult children and a proud cat owner. After spending 15 years caring for her husband during his battle with cancer, she shares that volunteering helped her rediscover a sense of purpose and identity.

Her favorite part of volunteering? The friendships sheโ€™s built along the way. Fran says the community of volunteers has been a true blessing in her life. She encourages others to get involved, sharing: "I highly recommend volunteering with a quality and worthy organization."
