In 1895, future Governor William Goebel (NKY’s last Gov) survived a literal shootout on the streets of Covington. After Goebel exposed the corruption of local political boss John Sanford, Sanford confronted him on the sidewalk and drew his gun. Goebel drew faster, shooting Sanford in self-defense. Goebel was fully acquitted. He went on to become Governor because regular Kentuckians knew he couldn't be bullied by the corporate and political establishment. Unfortunately his term only lasted 4 days before he was assassinated in Frankfort.
Politics today is a battle of votes, not bullets—but NKY still deserves leaders with that exact same backbone. I'm proud to stand up to anyone blocking progress for working families in Frankfort.

Thursday night supporting the Mason, Bracken, Robertson, and Harrison counties’ Democratic Party and their candidates. We celebrated America’s 250th. We heard from a stellar lineup of speakers reminding us to work to get Dr. Charlotte Harris elected as your new State Representative. Hosted by the Mason County Democratic Party, held at the Limestone Center in Maysville Ky.
Packed house…👍 it’s the time of year: where door knocking, seeing people eye to eye, and making phone calls pay off. Every democratic candidate needs you help. Thanks to all who who came out last night. Photos provided by Leo Anthony McKay

Date night with Adriana Lehman at the Southgate block party and supporting the Southgate Fire Department.

To prepare for the 50th anniversary of The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire, the Southgate FD commissioned a limited edition challenge coin as a reminder of the 165 lives lost that tragic night. The coin highlights the efforts of the hundreds of firefighters who came from as far as LaGrange, Ky and worked tirelessly through the night to save so many people.

Pick one up at the firehouse for $10 or call and have them shipped for an extra $5.

After spending $100+ to fill the tank recently, I couldn’t believe I would sit through a committee meeting where Republicans would vehemently criticize a gas tax cut!
Yes, we have underfunded construction and maintenance of Kentucky’s roads. But our Republican supermajority has failed to fix this problem for 10 years. In the rush to slash income taxes for the 1%, our legislature has underfunded all sorts of services our citizens expect.
For our small businesses, delivery drivers, contractors, and for those just trying to get to work and school, Gov. Beshear’s temporary tax break on skyrocketing gas prices should be a welcome measure during inflationary times like this.

Lexington driver Colton Townsend said rising gas prices have forced him to make tough choices. Townsend said he has started riding his bike to cut down on fuel costs.
