About me:
I have been a resident of the Town of Fairfield most of my life. I was raised on a dairy farm with my parents, James Sr. and Mary Maxwell, with my brother and 4 sisters. It’s during these years that I learned the value of hard work and determination. I graduate from West Canada High School in 1979 and then enlisted in the U.S Air Force. I serviced my country in the U.S. Air Force for 4 y
ears in supply management and 2 yrs. After leaving the U.S. Air Force I purchased my own Dairy cows and farmed with my parents till 1993. While farming I also decided to go into the lumber business. I purchased my first sawmill in 1989. I currently own and operate with my wife, Kellie, Maxwell Family Sawmill (formally Maxwell Custom Sawing) since 1989. I am married and have 4 children, 2 step children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. This is one reason I believe it is so important to maintain clear, safe, and hazard free roadways. Family is important and I know how important family is to our residents in this fine Township. We want to keep them all safe. Experience:
Worked 10 years for the Town of Fairfield Highway department plowing and sanding roads. Currently on my 14th year working for Tioga Contracting LLC as Supervisor/Forman. I supervise 2-15 men, plus subcontractors on jobs ranging from thousands of dollars to over a million. I also handle certified payroll hours. I own and operate a lumber business after work hours and on the weekends. This involves maintaining inventory, ensuring special orders completed on time and budgeting to maximize our profit margin. I know the importance of keeping cost down but still offer quality service to our customers.
