Drone Club Takes Flight!

On Wednesday, April 15th, our Drone Club had an incredible opportunity to train with a drone instructor from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology! Students got hands-on experience flying larger drones with amazing camera capabilities and thermal sensors, navigated obstacle courses, and learned directly from a professional FAA licensed drone operator. đŸŽ„

The excitement doesn’t stop there—Drone Club will be back next year! If you’re interested in technology, aviation, or exploring the many career paths connected to drones, this is something you won’t want to miss.

Huge thank you to Mrs. Fortenbaugh for taking on the challenge of launching our new Drone Club! 🚁 She completed specialized training and is now teaching students how to safely fly drones—helping them build valuable skills that can lead to exciting future career opportunities.

A big thank you to Harrisburg University for providing such a unique and engaging experience for our students! 👏

We would also like to thank the Newport Buffalo Foundation, who have supported the expansion of various STEM programs across the District, including funding the purchase of drones for the Drone Club!

Topics to include, but are not limited to: course recommendations, NCAA, foreign language, CPACTC, dual enrollment/college in the classroom, Act 158 graduation requirements, NCAP courses, and internship/co-op opportunities.

Our Newport Mini Thon team is excited to announce that Highmark has chosen to sponsor us with a gift of $1,000 to be added to our school’s Donor Drive!!! Thank you Highmark for helping us reach our Four Diamond goals! We greatly appreciate this! Upcoming Events for Four Diamonds: On Thursday, February 5th at Newport High School there is a varsity girls and boys basketball game. This will be our Four Diamonds winter event. We will have milk shakes for sale for $5, raffles, whoopie pies for $2.00, and a variety of games and activities during the half time of each game.
