Its our pleasure to announce our 2025 Beachcomber Days Parade Grand Marshal. CONGRATULATIONS TO SFC LUKE BOBEDA of Newport Oregon. Luke joined the Oregon National Guard in 2012 as a Military Police officer. After his training he decided to join the Active Guard Reserve program in 2013 as a Annalist, He transferred in 2014 to the Calvary where he went to infantry school. In 2015 he was deployed to Romania and Poland. In 2019 he moved his family to Newport, Oregon and joined the 224 Engineer Company where he was promoted and provided operational and logistic support to the Newport National Guard Engineers. From 2019-2023 he was activated for Oregon Fires, Covid missions in State hospitals, OTIS Fire of Lincoln County and many more missions. In 2023, The unit was deployed to Camp Atterbury Indiana to help provide support to the Afghanistan refugees who were flown in on the last days of the Afghanistan war. Over 60,000 Afghanistan refugees came through the camp while the 224 Newport Engineers were serving, Women, children and young males all received medical care and food and housing while seeking asylum. In 2024 SFC Bobeda was promoted and became the Lincoln County Recruiter for the Oregon National Guard. He is also the Vice president of the Loyalty Days Parade and Parade chair; he is the Treasure for Oregon’s Association of the United States Army-AUSA. He is the vice president for the Newport Lions Club and helps with many local events here in Lincoln County.
