NAPS AY22 celebrated Sponsor Family Appreciation Day on 19 March 2022 with lunch at Ney Hall followed by NAPS vs. USMAPS Lacrosse game on Nimitz Field. Thank you Sponsor Families for all your support during this academic year!
** Marine Corps MOS Mixer **
On 16 March, NAPS AY22 had the pleasure of interacting with Marine Officers from Naval War College, representing 10 separate military occupational specialties. Students had the ability to ask questions and learn more about Marine Officer careers.
** Naval Officer Career Fair **
On 2 March 2022, NAPS hosted 12 Naval Officers from Naval War College in support of a Naval Officer Career Fair. Students from across the battalion were able to interact and ask questions regarding future careers within the following communities: surface warfare, submaries, supply, EOD, medical, and aviation.
** NAPS Leadership Speaker Series #5 **
On 23 Feb, NAPS had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Nicholas Diorio, J2 Director of Intelligence and USNA class of '87, who gave a guest lecture on "Leadership 101: Insight and Discussions from a Grad, Dad, and Professional."

-09 May: USNA Admission Notification to students.
-12 May: Pass-in-Review at 1330. Friends and Family attire: Business Casual. Students on liberty following conclusion of Pass-in-Review until Grad Ball commences. Family and Friends Grad Ball attire: formal evening attire.
-13 May: NAPS Graduation Ceremony at 1330. Family and Friends attire: Business casual. Students will be dismissed from NAPS following the conclusion of the graduation ceremony.

In order for NAPS parents, family members and friends to visit NAPS Spring 2022 for Graduation events, each person 18 years of age and over will need to fill out a new application for Base Access, Form 5512. Form 5512, along with directions to complete the form and other important base access information is located on the NAPS web site at: https://www.usna.edu/NAPS/Visit/Visitor-Base-Access.php

**NAPS Marking Period Two Awards Ceremony**
NAPS AY22 celebrates the hard work and accomplishments at the conclusion of MP2. The ceremony included awards at the individual, platoon, and company level for academic excellence, military performance, and physical fitness. Prior enlisted Midshipman Candidates were recognized and awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for their exemplary personal and professional conduct. In addition, M/C Talley, a prior Marine, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Congratulations and Bravo Zulu to all our students on these many achievements!
** NAPS Leadership Speaker Series #4 **
In Janurary, NAPS held its fourth iteration of the Leadership Speaker Series. For this event, five Senior Enlisted Leaders from the Senior Enlisted Academy were the guest speakers. Representatives from the USN, USMC, Coast Guard, and a German Navy Frogman were on site to present their outlooks on leadership and the relationship between the junior officer and enlisted.
** Snow Removal Operations **
Its that time of year in New England for harsh weather and plenty of snow. NAPS AY22 students do their part to ensure daily operations continue to function seamlessly with snow removal aboard the NAPS campus.
**Fair Winds and Following Seas**
Over the past 30 years, Coach Bryan Brouse has served NAPS in a variety of billets to include Head Football Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Director of Athletics. His team-spirit and selfless dedication to thousands of students over the past three decades has set the benchmark of excellence for the entire command to emulate. During his retirement ceremony, Coach was awarded the Navy Civilian Service Commendation Medal in addition to having NAPS Gym 1801 dedicated to him. A beloved faculty member and educator, he will be sorely missed. Congratulations Coach Brouse on your retirement and a job very well done!

GySgt McLain provided military instruction on weapons handling procedures and fire team tactics, concluding with a practical application exercise. YUT!
**Ice Cream Social**
On 17 Dec, students, faculty, and staff joined together for an ice cream social and holiday celebration prior to the end of the calendar year

On 15 Dec, NAPS had the pleasure of hosting Major Tom Schueman, a Marine Corps Infantry Officer, who gave a guest lecture on warrior ethos and leadership
The NAPS Diversity and Inclusion Society held a Multicultural Holiday Party to celebrate and recognize the various fall/winter holidays, including Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. The event featured a gingerbread house making competition, a gardening beautification craft project, Bingo, holiday music, snacks and refreshments

**NAPS Annual Turkey Trot**
On 22 Nov 2021, NAPS held its annual Turkey Trot aboard Naval Station Newport. The entire battalion, to include faculty and staff, participated in this highly spirited event. The route consisted of a 3.14 mile course around Naval Station Newport, concluding with donuts outside of Ripley Hall.
Congratulations to our newest Chief Petty Officer, HMC Richard E. Spells, NAPS Independent Duty Corpsman. Bravo Zulu!
A regional fiscal year 2022 Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Pinning Ceremony was held 19 Nov 2021, at Kay Hall in Naval Station Newport. The ceremony officially recognized the promotion of 22 Newport-based CPOs from 12 commands and four honorary chiefs from the Marine Corps, Air Force and German Navy.
**NAPS BASE ACCESS FOR 2022**
NAPS families and friends,
Naval Station Newport Security grants clearance for base access for a total of 179 days per application. After 179 days all cleared individuals lose their clearance and will need to re-apply for access. In order for NAPS parents, family members and friends to visit NAPS in 2022, each person 18 years of age and over will need to fill out a new application for Base Access, Form 5512. On 22 Nov 2021, NAPS said farewell to GSE2 Edward Chambliss who served as the First Lieutenant Workcenter Supervisor and Assistant Facilities Manager from October 2018 to November 2021. CAPT James Bahr awarded GSE2 with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his superior performance and exceptional dedication to duty during this time period. Good luck on your future assignment GSE2 and thank you for all your hard work!

**NAPS Outdoor Club** On 14 Nov 2021, M/Cs participated in the Spartan Stadion Obstacle Course Race at iconic Fenway Park in Boston. They powered through 20 obstacles throughout 5 kilometers of racing. Particular mention to M/C Newcomb and Rose who finished 6th and 7th respectively among more than 2400 racers in the Open Division. Bravo Zulu to all our M/Cs!

NAPS trip to Military Academy Preparatory School on 12 Nov 2021. Students and staff traveled south to West Point, NY to cheer on the football team in their annual NAPS vs. MAPS football game.
10 November 2021. NAPS AY22 celebrates the 246th Marine Corps Birthday with the traditional reading of General Lejeune's birthday message, Commandant of the Marine Corps message, and cake cutting between the youngest and oldest Marine. Youngest Marine was Cpl Michael Le born in 2001 and oldest Marine was Cpl Richard Flinn born in 1945. Semper Fidelis!
NAPS dominates Bridgton Academy with a final score of 47 to 6! An outstanding victory to close out this year's home schedule centered around effort, attitude, toughness and a winning mindset. The NAPS football team will end their season on November 12 against the Military Academy Preparatory School in West Point, NY.

This past weekend, our Cross Country Club competed in the annual Fall Comers 5k held in Roger Williams Park. NAPS has been a participant every year since the race’s inauguration in 2017. Congratulations to all of our runner’s on their outstanding performance!
