Good afternoon, everyone.
We wanted to take this time to address the many questions regarding whether we will be hosting the Newport Community Festival this year.
Unfortunately, we will not be hosting the festival this year. With this being the 250th anniversary celebration and several large events taking place throughout the surrounding area, we felt it was best not to hold the festival at this time.
The purpose of our committee has always been to help fundraise and support the needs that arose during the rebuild of our Fire Department and EMS services. We are proud to say that both departments are now back to full status and operating efficiently.
The funds raised over the past 3 years have helped support training for fire personnel, the purchase of a rescue kit to be used alongside the Jaws of Life, as well as sweatshirts and toboggans for our fire personnel during the winter months.
At this time, we feel it is appropriate to turn fundraising efforts back over to the Fire Department and EMS now that they are fully functional again. Any remaining funds will continue to be held for additional training costs, equipment needs, or any future needs that may arise within the departments.
I would also like to take this opportunity to genuinely thank each and every one of our committee members for their tireless efforts over the last three years. Organizing the community festival required countless hours of preparation, and our members never missed a beat. None of this would have been possible without their dedication and hard work.
While we are unsure what future endeavors may look like at this time, we will continue to fully support our Fire Department and EMS in any way possible.
Lastly, we want to sincerely thank our community and the surrounding communities for all of your support throughout this journey. The funds we were able to raise would not have been possible without each and every one of you.
We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
President,
Jonie Haught
