Our 2026 Valedictorian, Donovan Macario-Avila, represented Newport with pride tonight at the Newport City Commission meeting. Donovan thanked City Manager John Hayden for serving as our commencement speaker and expressed appreciation for the City of Newport’s continued support of Newport Independent Schools.

We are proud of Donovan and grateful for our strong partnership with the City. ❤️🖤🐾

From making complex science lessons make sense to mentoring students through their toughest high school years, Mr. Thompson has been a fixture in our classrooms. Thank you for your dedication and for always challenging our students to think bigger. NHS won't be the same without you!

Start of School Assistance (SOSA) is an EducateNKY volunteer initiative that helps students in Covington and Newport start the school year feeling welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. Volunteers will serve during the first three days of school, supporting arrival, classrooms, lunch, recess, or departure based on each school’s needs.
