🎓 BUILDING THE FUTURE OF NEWPORT SCHOOLS TOGETHER! 🎓

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent Portrait of a Learner community meeting! A Portrait of a Learner is our community’s shared vision defining the essential real-world life skills our students need to succeed after graduation.

Your energy and care helped us complete Step 1 of our four-step process by identifying six core pillars for every Newport learner:

• 🗣️ Effective Communicator: Listening closely and sharing helpful feedback.
• 🧠 Lifelong Learner & Curious Mindset: Staying curious, asking questions, and always wanting to grow.
• 💡 Problem Solver & Solution Minded: Thinking critically, trying new ideas, and focusing on solutions.
• 🌱 Adaptable & Resilient: Handling change and pushing through tough challenges.
• 🎯 Self-Aware & Self-Directed: Speaking up for oneself, staying motivated, and understanding personal strengths.
• 🤝 Responsible Citizen & Community Contributor: Showing honesty, working well with others, and helping our local community.

📍 What's Next? Our next step is Step 2: Define the Competencies. Together, we will outline what these six skills look, sound, and feel like in everyday school life.

📅 Join Us at the End of October! Our next community workshop will take place at the end of October. We will announce the exact date, time, and location very soon. Whether you came to the first meeting or are joining us for the first time, we need your voice as we build the future for Newport's students!
