Hola,
Veronica

👮‍♂️🏫 Meet the Newport Police Department’s School Resource Officers

The 2026–2027 school year is officially underway! Although we may be a little late with our introduction, we believe better late than never—especially when it comes to recognizing the officers who play such an important role in our schools. 😊

Our School Resource Officers (SROs) are dedicated to building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while helping promote a safe, supportive, and welcoming school environment. Their role goes beyond school safety; they serve as mentors, resources, and trusted members of the school community.

We are proud to have these officers representing the Newport Police Department in our schools and look forward to another successful school year.

Please join us in welcoming and getting to know our Newport Police SROs! 👮‍♀️📚

Please see the attached information about this year's 2026 Riverfest on September 6th.

Community Town Hall: Automatic License Plate Readers

Newport Police will host a Town Hall on Wednesday, July 8th at 6:00 PM at the Newport City Building Multi-Purpose Room to discuss the proposed purchase of Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPRs) through Flock Safety.
Representatives from Newport Police and Flock Safety will be on hand to answer questions and share information about the technology.

This is an opportunity for our community to learn more, ask questions, and weigh in as we consider what's best for public safety in Newport. We'll discuss both the potential benefits and the concerns associated with license plate reader technology, and we want to hear from you.

All residents are encouraged to attend.
