Newport Volunteer Rescue Squad

Newport Volunteer Rescue Squad volunteer rescue agency With only a few founding members. To the Montgomery Co. line, and to the twin churches in Craig County.

Having been a satellite unit of Giles Rescue since 1972, Newport Volunteer Rescue was formed independent of them in October 1991, and ran their first call the first week of November 1991. Buford "Boots" Belcher, Norris Stiff, JC Link, Ralph Stump, Romney Smith, Alan Pratt, Steve McCall and France Gryl. As the tiny town of Newport was applying for Village status, one of the requirements for that to

happen is the Village must have its own Rescue Squad and Fire Department. The squads coverage area is from Mountain Lake Lodge(formerly Hotel) down Virgina Route 700 to Maybrook Bridge at Route 730. Mutual aid assistance is also given to surrounding areas when the need arises.

🇺🇸 Today, Newport Rescue honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives in service to protect our freedoms. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also extend our gratitude to the families who carry their memories every day.

From all of us at Newport Rescue, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙
