July is just around the corner, and our membership rates will be increasing. We’d love for you to join or remain membership at the best possible price. Stop by the front desk before June 30th to renew or sign up—our team is ready to help you catch the current rates!

You'll notice that everything listed on our June calendar is included in the yearly membership price, except for the trips. That's right - all that for $39.50 or $45.50 a YEAR. 🚪 Exciting Accessibility Update! 🚪

We are thrilled to share that navigating our building just got a little easier! Today, brand new automatic door openers were installed on both the men’s and women’s upstairs restrooms.

Whether you use a walker or wheelchair, have your hands full, or just appreciate a touch-free entrance, these new push-buttons are there to make your visits more comfortable and accessible.

A huge thank you to AARP for the grant that made this possible and everyone involved in making these improvements happen.

📬 Calling All Collectors & Curious Minds! 📬

Do you have a stash of old letters tucked away, or a book full of stamps you haven't looked at in years? Whether you are a lifelong philatelist (the fancy word for stamp collector!) or you just found a box of old stamps and want to know more about them, we want to meet you!

We are looking to start a Stamp Collecting Group right here at the 60+ Activity Center.

This group is for you if:

You already collect stamps and want to share your passion.

You inherited a collection and are curious about what you actually have.

You just enjoy the history, art, and stories behind old postage.

Not into stamps? No problem!

If there is another type of collecting you are passionate about—like coins, postcards, vintage books, or memorabilia—let us know! If there is enough interest, we would love to expand this into an all-encompassing collectors' club where everyone can bring in their favorite treasures.

Join Craig for Tai Chi for Fun and Health, a 9-week series designed for everyone—from absolute beginners to experienced practitioners looking to refine their practice.

Tai Chi offers gentle, easy movements that build deep inner strength and peace without stressing your joints.

📅 When: Thursdays, June 4 – July 30
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
⏳ Duration: 9 Weeks

What we’ll explore together:
✅ The Sun Style Form: Learn a complete, flowing Tai Chi form step-by-step.
✅ Shibashi Qigong: Play with gentle, breath-connected movements to cultivate qi (energy).
✅ Balance & Stepping: Practice fun, practical exercises to keep you steady and confident on your feet.

Led by Craig Shafer, a Tai Chi for Health Institute Certified Instructor.

🌊 Ever wondered what it takes to protect our beautiful Oregon coastline?

Join us at the 60+ Activity Center for our upcoming "Listen and Learn" session featuring special guest speaker Denise Harrington from CoastWatch!

Denise will dive into the history of Oregon Shores and explain how the CoastWatch program turns regular citizens into "boots on the ground" stewards for our public beaches. Whether you're interested in volunteering or just love local coastal history, this is a great opportunity to learn how we can protect the beaches we love.

When: Tuesday, June 2nd

Become a Reading Buddy! We are looking for volunteers to spend just one hour a week with a school-age child. Many young people in our community can truly benefit from sharing time, stories, and smiles with older adults.

What does a Reading Buddy do?
📚 Read together
🎲 Play games
🗣️ Share life stories
🌱 Learn about one another

The Details:
🗓️ When: Tuesday afternoons (Mid-May to Mid-September 2026)
⏰ Time Commitment: Just 1 hour a week!
💛 Qualifications: Being a friend is the only skill needed.

All sessions are fully supervised by a volunteer coordinator.

Holiday Hours Notice

In observance of Memorial Day, our facility will be closed today, Monday, May 25th. We will resume our normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26th.

While many of us look forward to the long weekend as the unofficial start of summer, we want to take a moment to remember the true meaning of the day. Memorial Day is dedicated to honoring and remembering the brave men and women of the U.S. military who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. We are deeply grateful for their service and their families' sacrifice.

We hope you all have a safe, peaceful, and meaningful weekend.
