Did you know Black Americans have a long history in our country’s waste industry?
During the post-Civil War era it was a way former slaves could make money and provide for themselves collecting trash in wagons; sorting through it for metal, rags, glass, anything with value they could sell to be reused or recycled.
They have continued to have a strong presence in our industry as owners and workers of waste companies.
We celebrate Black Americans, this Juneteenth, for their role in early and continued evolution of waste service in the United States.

As hot, dry weather begins to roll in this week, the Lincoln County Fire Defense Board and Oregon Department of Forestry have established a debris burn ban due to increasingly dry conditions beginning Monday, June 15 lasting through October 15.

This does not include recreational campfires, charcoal grills, and propane or patio fireplaces. We encourage you to contact Newport Fire Department at 541-265-9461 if you have ANY questions regarding the ban or what is covered under it. 🎆🎇Several partners including Solve, local and county governments, Thompson's Sanitary Service, North Lincoln Sanitary Service, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up to host a series of Fifth of July Cleanups throughout Lincoln County.

🎆🎇The Fourth of July holiday and the days surrounding it contribute so much litter and marine debris to Oregon’s beaches that the fifth of July has now been declared the dirtiest beach day of the year. The debris from fireworks and other festivities can end up in the ocean entangling wildlife and harming them when mistaken for food.

Cardboard is highly recyclable but please FLATTEN and REMOVE STYROFOAM before recycling. Have too much cardboard? Won't fit in your cart? You can drop off for FREE at our Recycling Center, 7450 NE Avery.

Download our mobile app and ask our Waste Wizard search engine about the material you're disposing. It will give you options and pro tips on how to get rid of your item.
