All Lincoln County Haulers take batteries for FREE at their Recycling Depots. We accept batteries at our Recycling Depot, 7450 NE Avery, Newport, Mon-Fri 8am-4pm or subscribe to our program Recycle+ and we'll pick them up from your porch!
🔥 Please don't put batteries in the trash! Fires like this happen every day due to batteries igniting flammable materials in the trash 🔥

Batteries can spark and cause fires. Battery-caused fires in garbage trucks and waste processing facilities have increased in recent years. These fires put workers’ lives in danger and can cost millions of dollars in damage.

To prevent fires, separate batteries from other waste and tape the ones most likely to cause fires. Drivers take the bagged batteries out of the glass bins and separate them from the glass during collection. We at TSS recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day today, October 12, being in it's sixth year since the state officially recognized the holiday.
🪶Indigenous Peoples' Day, the day previously celebrated in Oregon as Columbus Day, replaces the inaccurate idea of the "discovery" of America with a truthful account of the resilience and survival of Indigenous peoples.
🌲We acknowledge the Indigenous communities who have lived on and cared for Oregon's lands since time immemorial.
🌾 And celebrate the enduring traditions, languages, and modern contributions of Oregon’s nine federally recognized tribes and other Indigenous residents to arts, education, and environmental stewardship.

The more you know 🧠

🤔️ Wonder what happens to your plastic bottles after you redeem them with BottleDrop?

♻️ All plastic returned through Oregon's Bottle Bill is recycled in St. Helens, OR. Bottles are sorted, chipped, washed, and turned into high-grade rPET flake (the raw material for new plastic products, including new bottles!).

Even the caps get recycled, so be sure to screw your plastic cap back on your empty bottle before you return it!

A disposable v**e tossed in the trash can do more than create waste.

It can start a fire.

Disposable v**es contain lithium batteries that can catch fire when crushed in garbage trucks or waste facilities. These fires put sanitation workers, drivers, and emergency responders at risk.

Even small batteries can cause major damage.

Protect waste workers and our community:
-Don’t throw v**es in trash or recycling bins

The safest option for your health and the environment is not va**ng at all.
