Dear Parent/Guardian,
Today we had to evacuate the building due to a strong odor of gas. Out of an abundance of
caution, a team consisting of the Newport Fire Department and Rhode Island Energy was called
to Pell to assess the situation. After a thorough investigation, the team deemed the building safe
for students to return. At no time were students unsafe or in any danger.
This is the second incident this week regarding a strong odor of gas. Both incidents have been
investigated and are unrelated. The first incident had to do with our boiler. The second incident
involved one of our rooftop ventilation units. Both items have been addressed and are
undergoing repairs.

Hoy tuvimos que evacuar el edificio debido a un fuerte olor a gas. Por precaución, un equipo formado por el Departamento de Bomberos de Newport y Rhode Island Energy fue llamado a Pell para evaluar la situación. Después de una investigación exhaustiva, el equipo consideró que el edificio era seguro para el regreso de los estudiantes. En ningún momento los estudiantes estuvieron inseguros o en peligro.
