SPOFR has been actively engaged on a structure fire with some vegetation involvement in the far South/East corner of the district. The fire is contained and there is no wildfire threat to Pend Oreille County. There are reports of minor injuries that were treated on scene and transported.

Thank you to our partners at D2, DNR, West Pend Orielle, Spirit Lake FD, and Spokane County 4 for a truly massive reaponse.

Stratton Elementary starts back on Aug.27th.
SPOFR is collecting needed school supplies for the kids who need our support.

Newport’s National Night Out was a great success this year with many both young and old talking with our many first responders and community members.
The kids really enjoyed climbing in the Life Flight helicopter under the direction of the Life Flight crew.

There is no active fire threatening Pend Oreille County, but SPOFR units did respond to assist our neighbors just South. We have one paramedic engine company backfilling a Spokane District 4 station, one three person brush engine assigned to the Fairview Fire in the Mead area, and Chief 301 assigned as a task force leader on the same fire. We remain fully staffed in District.

Notably, Chief 301 and Brush 34 were enroute to the Old Trails Fire when they were among the first to notice, report, and divert to the Fairview Fire. Chief 301 led the initial structure protection group in the Overview Cir area. Our prayers are with all who have lost property in these devastating and unprecedented fires.
