WIN THIS CART!

We currently have 425 tickets left. THAT'S IT! We will not be adding anymore tickets to the pot - so with only 1,000 tickets being sold, for every ten tickets you purchase, you have a 1% chance to win!

If we are able to sell the remaining tickets this weekend, we will have the drawing at the monthly meeting on Monday (Labor Day!).

Please continue to share this post with friends, family, and neighborhood groups so we can wrap this up in time for the first fall of the season. The money is being raised for the Broad and Gales Creek Firemans Association, and will be used to further fire safety education and community relations.

Neighbors...this is us saying we need YOUR help!

Y'all, we are currently 37% of the way to being able to raffle this cart off and truthfully, we want to see someone win it sooner rather than later!!

This has been a super ambitious fundraising idea - it's our first raffle, and this page still only has around 150 posts and we are grateful for almost 1k followers at this point. So here is what we need:

If you already bought tickets - THANK YOU! You are absolutely welcome to buy more, we need to sell all 1,000 so we can reach out goal. Please share this post with as many friends/relatives/co-workers as you can think of. Let them know we will deliver within the county...and into parts of Onslow, within reason.

If you haven't - now is the time!!

The BGFD UTV was dispatched to assist the Carteret County Sheriff's Office at 4:25pm this afternoon, after a hiker reported his 90 pound dog had suffered a heat stroke.

The UTV was deployed into the Croatan forest, and was able to quickly locate the hiker and the deputies already on scene with the assistance of Carteret County dispatchers and the Rapid SOS system.

The dog and hiker were transported to the Patsy Pond parking area, where the dog was administered oxygen and provided water while efforts were made to cool the dog and coordinate emergency care. Crews spent approximately one hour from dispatch to available and in quarters.

As a note, the UTV is one of our less used pieces of apparatus which time and again has proven to be a valuable resource. This is the second call this week which crews went into an isolated area to assist someone in distress. With room for a stretcher on back, four people on board, and a water capacity of 80 gallons, it is extremely versatile for a variety of situations.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the hiker and his dog, and many thanks to all those who help protect this county and it's residents!

We seldom share updates like this. Kenn generously donated a great deal of time to our local high school program, and provided our department with some incredible photographs during our live burn training earlier this year.

Sharing this for those are are familiar with the local lacrosse program, and for those who are friends of the family. Kenn is a great man and a great member of our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!

On Wednesday, August 5th, our dear friend and coach Kenn Phillips suffered a massive stroke and is currently in the fight of his life at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. Kenn and Krystal have done so much for our lacrosse community, so now it is our turn to stand by the Phillips family during this incredibly challenging time.

To support Kenn’s recovery and help ease the mounting financial burden of his medical care, the Carteret Youth Lacrosse Association is bringing the community together on Saturday, August 29th, for a special Medicine Game. Rooted in Native American heritage, a Medicine Game is played with the specific intention of lifting up the afflicted and channeling collective energy toward healing. ✝️🥍

The crew had a warm morning in Goose Creek as the kids competed in their annual fishing tournament! The golf cart came along for some tunes...and we are looking forward to selling the 1,000th ticket so we can host the drawing, and plan to start bringing the cart to local events so you can see it in person.

Why is the raffle important to the department?

This raffle benefits the department's Firemans Association, and the proceeds from this raffle will be reinvested into resources and education materials for the community!
