Our heat will peak Wednesday & Thursday with heat index values in the 100 to 105 range. Precipitation chances return this weekend, but a widespread rain event does not appear likely. The late Summer heat holds on to start September.

I started watching Invest 96L out of the Atlantic about 36 hours ago. At that time, most models had it curving north and staying well away from the Eastern Seaboard.

This morning most models show it tracking towards the Caribbean and losing strength.

The concern is that is may pick up strength once it hits warmer water.

I notified our Central Dispatch at 10:50 am this morning that I have begun officially monitoring what will be named Tropical Storm Dolly. (I’m not happy about the name either)

I see no indication that this storm, should it hold together, affect East Tennessee.

I will provide updates as they come in.

The storm has picked up a little speed and looks like it will be over Cosby around 5:00 am

There is a cluster of storm activity moving East-North East into our area this morning. This screen shot is taken as of the time stamp on this post.

Near as I can tell, Cosby, Hartford, Del Rio all look to be in the path but other portions of Cocke County may also feel som affects.

Time expectation is 6:00 am with a margin of error of 20 minutes in either direction depending on course and speed.

It’s gonna be wet right about the time busses are moving.

Please activate your headlights to increase visibility on the roadways.

I would like to congratulate The Centerview Volunteer Fire Department on their win last night at The Cocke County Fair, Emergency Responder Event.

I regret to inform the public that it has been brought to my attention that this win is currently under investigation.

The ITOWEAAA is looking into the following infractions:

The use of football cleats
The use of leather gloves
Anabolic steroids
Blood doping
Hypnosis
Voodoo
And
Earth Worms

The investigation is expected to take 12 months.

Centerview VFD is directed to return their blue ribbon to the Director of The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency, to be held in trust, until the investigation is complete, or until next years event.
