The Iowa Department of Transportation summer traffic collection program is underway and will be setting traffic counters in Jasper County the next three weeks, starting May 6th (May 6th – May 22nd). We’ve attached the map they shared with us.

Detour details:
T-22 N to I-80 west, then to IA-14 S. to S. 60th Ave. E., and then the detour goes to S-74, then south back to Hwy. F-62 E. in Reasnor.

- Bridge Replacement on F-62 West Over Elk Creek Update -
The replacement of the bridge carrying F-62 over Elk Creek between Highways T-14 and T-22 is scheduled to begin on April 6th, 2026, weather permitting. The current 128 foot long bridge was constructed in 1962 and is a steel beam bridge with a poured concrete deck supported by concrete abutments over wood pile and concrete piling piers. This bridge will be replaced with a 201 foot long concrete beam bridge with a poured concrete deck supported by concrete abutments and piers with steel H-pile foundations. The existing bridge at 64 years old has reached its end of life. Moreover, it was designed and built under the standards of its day, standards which no longer meet today’s requirements. Therefore, the new structure resets the clock and brings the bridge into compliance with current structural loading and stream hydraulic requirements. Our department anticipates the completion of the new bridge by the end of October weather permitting.

This position will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the front office and executing the financial, and related clerical support tasks as required for the Secondary Roads Department. Exceptional candidates that possess qualifications to assist the Engineer in the planning, designing, and ex*****on of road, bridge, and drainage maintenance and construction projects will be considered for the Assistant to the Engineer position.

Here's a reminder for tonight's public hearing for the 5 Year Roads plan. We will meet on the 2nd floor of the courthouse in the Board of Supervisors room.

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 6:00 pm on January 20th in the boardroom at the Jasper County Courthouse. This meeting is an opportunity for the public to share comments on the proposed FY2027 County Five-Year Program (CFYP). The CFYP lists construction projects planned for fiscal year 2027 and includes projects for the following four years: 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031. The CFYP is required every year by Iowa law and covers construction projects on all types of county road segments. It also identifies where funding will come from and how much is expected for each project.

Also, please note, this meeting does not cover general gravel road maintenance, regrades or rock. We will plan community meetings to discuss our Secondary Roads soon.
