The Newton Police Department is saddened to learn of the passing of Omarion “Malik” Milsap, a junior at Newton High School. Malik was an exceptional young man and stellar student-athlete.

Our department often remembers Malik riding his mini scooter through neighborhoods, abiding by all the safety regulations and often headed to work on his craft, whether that was on the football and baseball field or basketball court. Malik was a bright light to everyone who knew him and he left a significant impact on his community.

The perseverance and determination he has shown through this fight will serve as a testament to the type of person he was. We ask that you pray for the Milsap family, Newton Municipal School District, and our community during this difficult time.

Today, we would like to ask for help in celebrating Officer Boler who graduated on yesterday from the Tupelo Law Enforcement Training Academy . You walked into the academy with a dream, and you walked out with a purpose. The long days, the exhausting nights, the moments where quitting may have felt easier than pushing forward you faced all of that head-on. Becoming a police officer isn’t just about wearing a badge. It’s about carrying responsibility when no one is watching. It’s about standing firm when things get hard. It’s about protecting people who may never know your name, but will forever be impacted by your courage.

Congratulations, Officer Santacious Boler from Chief McKenzie Patrick and Newton Police Department
