🏆 AUGUST HOMETOWN HERO — MICHAEL ROGERS 🏆
Yesterday, we had the privilege of surprising Michael Rogers with our August Hometown Hero Award.
And if you know Michael, you probably know he’s exactly the kind of person who would never expect an award like this.
Michael is one of those people who just does things. He doesn’t need his name attached to it. He doesn’t need a thank you or a pat on the back. He sees something that needs done, someone who needs help, or a way he can make a difference and then just does it.
He is active with the Sons of American Legion Newton IL Squadron #20 and is the manager of CCI Redi-Mix here in Newton.
But something he did recently was pretty amazing.
As bricks and debris from our old Jasper County Courthouse began arriving at CCI Michael could have simply let them become part of a pile of rubble.
Instead, he took it upon himself to go through them, picking out the good bricks and saving them so members of our community could have the opportunity to take home a little piece of our history.
He didn't have to do that.
There was no recognition waiting for him. No spotlight. He simply knew those bricks meant something to people in this community, so he took the time to save them.
And THAT is why Michael Rogers is our Hometown Hero.
He’s the kind of guy we know we could call if our community needed help, and he would show up, not because anyone was watching, but because that’s just who he is.
People like Michael are what make Jasper County such a special place to call home.
Congratulations, Michael, and thank you for all the things you do when you think no one is noticing.
We notice. And we appreciate you. ❤️
