On 07/20/2026 at approximately 16:51 HRS, Mercedes P Unkraut, 35, Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant-Violation of pre-trial release, during a warrant service in Jasper County.

On 07/29/2026 at approximately 01:16 HRS, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of N 1000th St. / E. 1050th Ave. Newton, Jasper County. Michael E Jayne, 46, Springfield, was arrested for a Jasper County FTA Warrant-aggravated m**h manufacture APT < 15 grams, delivery/possession with intent to deliver m**hamphetamine, possession of m**hamphetamine. Courtney R Vail, 34, Springfield, was arrested for possession of m**hamphetamine, delivery/possession with intent to deliver m**hamphetamine.

On 07/30/2026 at approximately 00:22 HRS, Jeffery R Sims, 46, Greenup, was arrested for possession of m**hamphetamine 5-15 grams, possession of m**hamphetamine with intent to deliver 5-15 grams, during a traffic stop in the area of US Hwy 130 / 2000th Ave. Hidalgo, Jasper County.

On 7/31/2026 at approximately 02:46 HRS, Kaprix M Sloan, 31, Brooklyn, was arrested for feeling/attempt to elude police, reckless driving, possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle, and no driver’s license, during a traffic stop in the area of S. Gregory Dr. Newton, Jasper County.

This year, 122 students statewide will receive financial assistance to continue their education at accredited institutions of higher learning.

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association established this scholarship program in 1979. Now entering its 47th year, the program recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and strong character. It stands as a testament to our belief in the power of education and the importance of investing in the next generation.
