Incident Type: Mutual Aid – Structure Fire
Narrative:
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 5:17 PM, the Newton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched into Hampton Township for a reported structure fire.
Within three (3) minutes of dispatch, Ladder 2 responded with a crew of four (4) personnel under the command of Deputy Chief 811. Within five (5) minutes of dispatch, Tower 4 responded with a crew of six (6) personnel under the command of Captain 812.
Ladder 2 arrived on scene approximately five (5) minutes after going in service, with Tower 4 arriving approximately one (1) minute later. As the first-arriving apparatus on scene, Ladder 2 was assigned to stretch a handline to the second division of the structure, working in close coordination with Hampton Township Fire Department Assistant Chief 48-2. Crews were able to knock down a significant portion of the fire upon arrival.
A second handline was subsequently deployed as crews from Hampton Township, Newton, and additional mutual aid agencies conducted checks for extension. Fire extension was located in the attic area and was further extinguished by operating crews.
Tower 4 was assigned to ventilation operations, including vertical ventilation by cutting an opening in the roof to improve interior visibility and conditions for crews operating inside the structure.
Newton Fire personnel operated on scene for approximately three (3) hours before being released by Hampton Fire Command.
