Neeko added another buck to the back of a hunters truck. Little did we know, this hunter has watched a few other dogs track deer. There are great people in this world, although sometimes it may not seem like it. A huge thanks to Mark for trusting us from the beginning. From the phone call to help out, to the moment my dog was standing over this deer. These are the best tracks. The ones where the hunter lets the tracker temporarily steal the show! No pressure. Just trust, and a well understanding that these creatures are tougher than the average person could ever imagine.

Confirmation of life. These have been pouring in lately. Not as many recoveries this year like I was wanting due to the fact that these deer are way tougher than a person ever considers and are still alive.
This one was shot with a 6.5. Prime example of spinal shock. Deer dropped in the middle of an open field at the shot. Hunter waited a while before climbing out of the box blind. Climbed out and the deer was gone. They gave it some time before going back in to track. Needless to say the deer was bumped in the pitch black with the hunter 5yds away before it got up and took off.
Fast forward roughly 24 hrs we show up Neeko starts his adventure. Showing the hunter some blood well past last blood. We tracked and tracked and about to give up after about a mile.... and bam... we bumped him 30 yds away. Watched him get half way up, and fall back over. He somehow managed to quickly get back up and sprint off. Fresh muscle blood was found in the bed where he was laying.
Even though there was no way the hunter could have gotten another shot, complete trust in the dog was able to ease the hunters mind knowing that this fella was going to be just fine.

Took a track close to home a couple nights ago. After a conversation with the hunter it sounded like a home run for the dog. My pup Bavarian Mountain Hound, Margo made her debut. This hunter (shooting traditional) put all of his trust in us and was completely fine with running this pup. Neeko stayed back at the truck for backup incase things got sketchy or complicated.
I trained this pup since day one, all the way up to deer season. With the amount of calls and requests this season for Neeko, her training was put on a temp hold.
Andddd well... things got sketchy but she kept grinding and working through things with multiple resets. This deer made several loops and curves. We ended up going 1,000+ yds with a few drops of blood at the end and she lost complete interest. It was agreed upon the hunter to go back in the morning and check to make sure we didnt miss something. At first it was believed to be a possible heart shot, except the deer was quartered away and shot placement was off. The hunter went out in the morning to do more walking and searching and came up empty handed. I have no doubt this deer will keep on keeping on!
Im sure the hunter will see my post. Thanks for having your full trust, patience, and understandings in us. Margo is going to be something special as we continue to train. She says since it was her 1st live track that you'll be receiving something nice from us in the off season!!!
*pic is from after the track. Exhausted and attached to me to say the least

Another confirmation of life pic! Hopefully the youth hunter gets another chance at him.

Another one alive. The hunter was sure this one was dead, as we never found the arrow and had descent blood on the ground for a while. These suckers are tough. Remember folks, wait for most presentable shot such as broadside.

I often get asked - How good is your dog?

My answer was learned from a wise tracker years ago - Better than your shot!!!! And I tell that to people on the phone all the time.

Check out this short clip, a hunter in disbelief on what Neeko just did.

Congrats to Chris on this amazing Kansas whitetail. He knew the shot wasn't the greatest and felt the recovery chance was slim, but wanted to see what a tracking dog could do in a last attempted effort. I was able to put Neeko on this one at the 20hr mark. It was flawless. (Only blood was within 50ft of shot) Few hundred yards with no blood on a pass thru shot he had me standing over this deer within a few minutes. After a heavy grid search from the hunter all night and into the morning ;) This dog has and continues to amaze me on every call we take. We were literally 15' from this deer and didnt know it. Neeko was done pulling me around, sitting next to my feet and literally licking blades of grass. Gave him a water break and tried to get him to continue. He wouldnt go. The hunter looked to his left and the deer was piled up under a cedar tree. This deer was a beast to get back to the truck and pics dont do this one justice. Thank goodness for a trackers dream the past few days. Rain/moisture and a little wind! Nah, we didnt break ropes on the sled or get the 4 wheeler stuck ;)
