Display your artistic talents and support local pets in need at our Halloween themed Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction!

Pick up a 4"x4" canvas at the library with a $1.00 deposit, and create a mini masterpiece at home. Designs can be cute or spooky, Halloween themed, or in celebration of the autumn season! Return your completed canvas no later than October 5th to have your deposit returned and be included in our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction.

Art will be on display inside the library October 8th - 22nd. All submitted art will be included in our Fundraiser Silent Auction on October 22nd. All proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Lucy's Pet Pantry.

Submissions should be family-friendly. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate!

We have our first Homeschool STEM program coming up on September 23rd at 1 pm, and this one will be held at the brand new Dana King Ceretti Environmental Education Center. Join us for nature stories and a craft, as we study the theme of Iowa animals preparing for winter. The activities will be geared toward PreK-4th graders.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month and we're celebrating by sharing all the different ways our community members use the library!

⭐Sherri - "I like to check out resources and books, and attend the educational programs. I have been a library patron since I was a little girl, riding my bike to the old library for a new book weekly. The library is an important resource for all citizens birth - 100. Everyone can be impacted by literacy, programming, and classes! The library offers something for everyone."

Join us for a special storytime with the Newton Fire Department tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 3, at 10:30 a.m.!
We will enjoy some fire truck stories, and kids will be able to see a fire truck up close in the Library parking lot.
No registration required.

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and to celebrate we are doing giveaways for new card holders along with debuting our new library card design!
Stop in to register for a library card, or refer a friend to get a card, to register for a prize! We have LEGO sets and book nooks to choose from.

Join us for a Storytime in September- we have a special Fire Truck Storytime on Thursday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. for all ages.
Weekly we have Baby Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. (no Storytime Sept 7th, the library is closed for Labor Day), Tuesdays is Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m., and Thursdays is Preschool Storytime at 10:30 a.m. (Please note there is no Storytime on Thursday, September 10th)
Baby Storytime: newborns up to 18 months
Toddler Storytime: 18 to 36 months
Preschool Storytime: ages 3 - 5
If you have kids in multiple age groups, choose what day works for you.
