Lucy's Pet Pantry is beginning a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program for cats in Newton. TNR is a widely used, humane method for managing community cat populations. Cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, and returned to the area where they were found. As this program begins, residents should know that any outdoor cat without identification, such as a collar or ear tip, may be trapped as part of this effort. Cat owners who let their pets outdoors are encouraged to make sure their cats have visible identification to avoid confusion during the process.
