Newton Food Pantry

Newton Food Pantry Bringing Our Community Together. One Bag at a Time. Founded in 1983, the Newton Food Pantry is the oldest and largest food pantry in the city.

For more than 40 years the Newton Food Pantry has provided food and personal care items to residents of our city who experience food insecurity. Although Newton is viewed as an affluent suburb of Boston, 1-in-8 households survive on less than $26,000 in annual income. The Newton Food Pantry currently provides supplemental food to more than 2,350+ Newton residents annually. Our clients can shop for

a free 5-day supply of nutritionally balanced food twice per month. Those in need will find our shelves stocked with fresh produce, dairy, proteins, personal care items, and culturally-relevant foods. In order to continue to fulfill our mission to provide nutritionally balanced supplemental food to Newton residents experiencing food insecurity, we need and appreciate your support. Thank you to our friends at Hope & Comfort () for their regular donation of personal-care items. Such products are often unaffordable for those facing financial hardship, and making them available through our food pantry helps reduce difficult trade-offs. No one should have to choose between purchasing necessities like soap, toothpaste and more, or putting food on the table. Thank you, Hope & Comfort, for your incredible support!

Massachusetts residents came together on the Boston Common yesterday at the annual Project Bread () Walk for Hunger to voice their support for hunger-relief solutions throughout the state. A group of students from our Teen Ambassador Program joined in, representing the Newton Food Pantry and the more than 2,500+ Newtonians we proudly provide supplemental food assistance to. Thank you for showing up, showing out, and showing what a better tomorrow can look like!

Can you imagine jogging 5 miles? What about 10 miles? 15? Next Monday morning, Newton's own Colleen Nolan will be running 26.2 MILES (!!!) at the Boston Marathon -- all to raise much-needed funds for the Newton Food Pantry.

If you know Colleen, show her some love and make a donation today. And if you don't know her...well, you're missing out because she's the bee's knees! Either way, you can still support the Newton Food Pantry by donating to her run and helping us end hunger throughout our city. Thanks!

The Boston Marathon () is less than 3 weeks away, and we are so excited for each and every participant. 26.2 miles!!!

Newton resident Rosie McLeod will be among the nearly 25,000 runners this year, and she's raising money to support hunger-relief efforts in our city and beyond. Rosie will be running for the Newton Turkey Trot (), which provides essential funding to the Newton Food Pantry and other local organizations in our collective fight against food insecurity. The Newton Food Pantry provides critical food assistance to nearly 350 local households per week through our main pantry, our home-delivery program, and our Newton Community freedge. At the heart of all that work are our AMAZING volunteers!

Team Newton Food Pantry came together last night to raise a glass, enjoy a laugh (many actually!) and celebrate the incredible people who donate their time and energy to help us feed those in need. Our volunteers are an intergenerational, multicultural group of the absolute best of Newton and beyond, and we are eternally grateful for them!
