It’s 4th and Long, I’m going for it and I am asking for your vote. That is what I wrote in my last letter to The Newtown Bee. https://www.newtownbee.com/10232025/its-fourth-and-long-and-im-going-for-it/
I chose to run as an unaffiliated, petition candidate because I believe collaboration should come before party politics; however, that leaves my name 5 rows down on the ballot. My name can be a little hard to find.
I am running for re-election to the Legislative Council to advocate for responsible budgeting, balancing adequate support for municipal services and education with the need to consider the burden placed on taxpayers. Further, I recognize the importance of preserving open space and directing new development to properties already zoned for that purpose.
Your vote can help me continue my service to the town. I encourage voters to look all the way down their ballot and consider my record of thoughtful, collaborative, and independent service to Newtown over the years with Newtown, CT Economic and Community Development, Edmond Town Hall, Cyrenius H. Booth Library, a Charter Revision Commission, and 2 terms on the Legislative Council.
Thank you for your consideration. When you’re filling out your ballot, remember to look 5 rows down to find Tom Long.
