UPDATE Memorial Day Parade Update May 22, 2026
American Legion Morell Smith Post 440
To Our Fellow Veterans, Legionnaires, Members of the Public and Parade Participants,
As we approach Memorial Day, a solemn and sacred occasion, I want to address our community directly regarding this year’s Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies.
Although the forecast calls for rain on Memorial Day, the Memorial Day Parade will proceed as scheduled. It is our solemn duty as Legionnaires and as Americans to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Rain, wind, or any other weather condition does not diminish that responsibility. We will march, we will remember, and we will render full honors to our fallen heroes.
We fully understand that inclement weather may prevent some parade participants, Post members, and members of the public from attending. Your safety and well-being are important to us. No one should feel obligated to attend if conditions make it difficult or unsafe for them to do so. We ask only that you keep the true meaning of the day in your hearts and prayers, wherever you may be.
Rest assured, the members of American Legion Morell Smith Post 440 will be present to carry out the full program. We will march in the parade, conduct the memorial service, and honor our fallen comrades with the dignity and respect they so richly deserve.
Let us all remember that Memorial Day is not about convenience — it is about commitment. It is about ensuring that those who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms are never forgotten.
Thank you for your continued support of our veterans and for honoring the memory of our fallen. We look forward to standing together in remembrance, rain or shine.
For God and Country,
Commander
Kyle Davis
