PINE GROVE FURNACE STATE PARK IS PARTLY REOPENED.

“Due to storm damage that occurred during the evening of 7/4, the park's campground, paymasters cabin, all flush restroom facilities, and potable water sources are CLOSED. All roadways within the park are currently open. As of 7/6, RT233 [north from the park office in the direction of the Cumberland Valley/I-81] is still closed due to downed trees and power lines.
“Laurel Lake and Fuller Lake are currently OPEN for swimming with porta-potties available. Please note, flush restrooms and potable water are unavailable at these locations.
“Restroom facilities will be closed due to water and sanitary systems being impacted by the power outages. The park is actively working to cleanup affected areas along with state and local entities. We apologize for this inconvenience and will provide additional updates and the situation changes.”
In addition, as of Monday 7/6/2026 @ 3 PM: note that Old RR Bed Road is open all the way to the end, but the Pole Steeple parking lot is closed due to a dangling power line. You can access the water pipe on the edge of the road. Park hiking trails are open, but a few downed trees remain… please be prepared to step over/under in a few places.

Please note that the park is CLOSED. The general public should not visit until further notice. The lakes, beaches, and day use areas are closed.
Old Railroad Bed Road is closed to prevent public access to park facilities. This includes the water pipe on the edge of that road: you may not bypass the road barrier to access the pipe. Cabin owners ONLY may cautiously drive to their cabins along Old RR Bed.
Cold Springs Road is closed at the Laurel end because a tree/wires are blocking the road just uphill from 923 Cold Springs Rd. The little side lane off Cold Springs, Mtn Creek Rd, is accessible.
UPDATES as of 11:35 AM Sunday:
Bendersville Road is open. You can drive from Furnace/General Store/Office area toward campgrounds and beyond. Murphy and Quarry are open.
Rte 233 south is open to all the way to Caledonia State Park.
PREVIOUS:
Per our Park Manager, Pine Grove Furnace State Park is closed until further notice due to storm damage. It may be a couple days until the park can reopen once grid power is restored and fallen trees are cleared.
The campgrounds are closed. All incoming reservations are canceled and refunds will be issued. We do not know when the campgrounds will reopen.
All park programs are canceled.
Route 233 is currently shut down north from the Park Office, but Pine Grove Road is open to Route 34. From the Park Office, Route 233 southward is open only as far as Michaux Road. Michaux Road up and across the ridgetop to High Mountain Road is open.
Bendersville Road between the campgrounds and the furnace/rest of the state park, is blocked. Bendersville Road south from the campgrounds into Adams County is open. As far as we know, Murphy and Quarry Roads in the park are open.
Cabin owners, while you *may* be able to safely drive to your cabin, consider waiting to check.
