Tonight the East Lyme Board of Selectmen honored EMTs Ella Chiasson and Anna Limburg during a formal meeting at Town Hall. First Selectman Dan Cunningham presented proclamations recognizing the two first responders for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering service with East Lyme Ambulance.

The ceremony celebrated Chiasson and Limburg’s commitment to public safety and their vital role in protecting the well‑being of town residents. The Board expressed sincere appreciation for their resilience and exemplary performance under challenging conditions, noting the critical impact EMTs have on the community.

The incident ocurred July 11th at Rocky Neck State Park, prompting an urgent response from Emergency Medical Technicians Ella Chiasson and Anna Limburg, both on duty at the time. The situation presented complex challenges, including effective triage of patients, coordination with a large crowd, and sustained delivery of high-quality patient care under demanding conditions which was recognized by the Fire Department Union in a written letter to Rich Waselik, Director of Operations.

Don’t forget that clocks go forward by 1 hr tonight! That means one less hour of sleep (boo!) - but lighter evenings (yay!).

It’s also a great time to test your smoke alarms (and CO detectors) and replace the batteries if needed. In an emergency, these alarms are real life savers 👍

It looks like we’re in for another blockbuster storm ❄️. Please stay off the roads unless you have to travel, use generators (and snow blowers) carefully, and stay away from downed power lines.

If you have elderly neighbors, or people that are less mobile, please check on them; and if you need us, our crews will be ready 24 x 7 🚑.

Make sure to stay warm, and cover up if you need to go outside - frostbite can happen in just a few minutes when it’s this cold.

And remember to look out for your pets, and your neighbors, too!

East Lyme Ambulance is happy to be lending a helping hand to Santa as he makes his way around East Lyme on Saturday the 20 and Sunday the 21 December 🎅🎄
