Not a fun Friday night.

There have been several water main breaks tonight and the crews have been out all night. As of 3:00am the Water Department is still out working
to make repairs. It is so incredibly cold to be outside standing in freezing cold water. These folks do an amazing job.

**BRUSH PILE ANNOUNCEMENT**

Starting tomorrow, Monday, January 13th, at 8 AM, the Brush Pile will reopen and it will be open everyday this week for residents to bring their brush and storm debris.

As we are confronted with yet more winter weather, we encourage everyone to limit their travel.

Our officers are currently responding to numerous collisions throughout the city.

Clean up information. I will also share on my page as more information is available.

Another example of the City of Nicholasville employees taking care of us. The Water Department was out until 1:30am repairing a busted water main. Thank you guys. Try to get some rest.

It’s hard to know road conditions before you head out. But the KY Transportation Cabinet has a website that can be helpful: https://goky.ky.gov/. And, if you see a road issue that needs to be quickly addressed, we have provided reporting numbers below:
State Highway Department: 859.885.4611
Jessamine County Road Dept: 859-885-5281
City of Nicholasville: 859-885-1121

UPDATE! The warming center at the blue building has closed. If you are needing assistance please call 859-813-0362 or 859-887-5447.

The Blue Building at the fairgrounds is now open as a warming center.

The Jessamine Homeless Coalition at 218 E Maple Street is still open on emergency plan with plenty of space
We have Closed the municipal Center in Wilmore since we had No one check in all day. We are going to open the Blue Building for the power outage emergency at 3PM. Utility crews are continuing to work on those affected

Update on power outages.
City of Nicholasville crews worked all through the night. Currently we have 40 customers without power and they hope to have that restored shortly. However limbs and wires are hanging low from the weight of the ice, so this will more than likely continue for awhile.

01/06/2025

I just have to brag on our electric department employees. Less than an hour ago we had 458 outages. We are now down to 3. We really have some awesome employees!

01/06/2025

As we expected, the power outages have started. The weight of the ice on limbs, trees and lines is starting to wreak havoc. We currently have 458 outages. Please be patient. They will get it resolved as quick as possible.

If you still have power, don’t forget to charge your devices. You can check updates on our website. Directions are on my post from earlier today. I will also update as well.

01/06/2025

Nicholasville City Hall and the Nicholasville Utility Office will be closed tomorrow.

As previously shared, if you have any outage reports, concerns or questions, please use the new automated system that can be accessed through the City of Nicholasville’s webpage or by calling /texting 833-805-9473.

01/05/2025

We anticipate a high likelihood of power outages as the storm progresses throughout the afternoon and evening. If you experience an outage, please call or text 833-805-9473. This AI system facilitates communication with our crew and tracks outages on our grid. Our crew will endeavor to keep the site updated as power is restored.

To view outage locations, visit our website at nicholasville.org, navigate to Departments, and select Utilities. On the right side of the page, click on Utility Outage Map to view outages citywide and access the reporting number.

Please note that being within the city limits does not mean that you have City of Nicholasville electricity, as KU and Bluegrass Energy also serve parts of the city.

We appreciate your patience in advance, acknowledging the challenging conditions our crews will face.

01/05/2025

Streets are very slick. Please be careful if you have to be out. The road crews are out and doing their best but this is going to be a rough few days.

As we enter a new year full of opportunity, I am so grateful for all that we've accomplished for Nicholasville. I’m honored to have the privilege to serve the people of Nicholasville as your mayor and continue working with a great group of local leaders at the Nicholasville City Commission. I know that this upcoming year will be the greatest yet, and I cannot wait to meet them together. I’m excited to see what 2025 brings.
As this year draws to a close, I wish you a most wonderful New Year of peace, joy, happiness, laughter, good health, and love. https://nicholasville.org/

My kids always accused me lecturing them about things that others did. I prefer to say that I was just making my expectations on their behavior very clear, lol.

The City just had some vandalism to the new Christmas decorations at Lone Oak. It’s more than likely kids. So parents have a talk with your children. We are investigating and adding security cameras and will prosecute and hold parents responsible. We have to protect our investments.

Congratulations!!
