A reminder that kids are in school on Monday.

🚨 REMINDER: School is IN SESSION this Monday! 🏫

🔔Just a friendly reminder that Monday, February 16th (Presidents Day) will be a regular school day for all students and staff.

🗓️As listed in our district calendar, this day is being used as a makeup day for the snow day we took on Friday, January 30th.

We’re looking forward to a productive day of learning with our students! See you Monday morning!

Our district-wide attendance was almost 93% today, greatly exceeding our expectations! Many thanks to our Transportation Department, led by Brad Woods with assistance from Matt Simpson, and the city and county road crews that worked so hard to get kids back in the buildings today. We look forward to returning to a normal schedule tomorrow.

Jessamine County Schools will be open tomorrow and run on a 2-hour delay with alternate bus routes. I want to stress: If you can get your kid(s) to school or the bus stop safely, we hope you will do so -- but please DO NOT take an unnecessary risk if you're in an area that's still iced over. Look for more detailed information in Parent Square and on the JCS page.

Unfortunately there are still a number of roads that are covered in ice and not enough progress could be made for our buses to safely navigate them. We're hopeful that warm temperatures tomorrow will allow the city and county road crews to get those trouble areas cleared out so we can get kids back in the buildings on Tuesday.

Supt. Crum just announced that school will stay closed for the remainder of the week but, with the expected rise in temperatures over the weekend and into next week, we’re hopeful for a return to normalcy next week. While this has been an incredibly challenging time for our community, we nonetheless appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this unprecedented stretch of bad weather. Please stay safe and warm!

I want to express our sincere gratitude to the incredible JCS food service and support staff. Even with schools closed due to this terrible weather, they’ve been out in the cold delivering meals to ensure our students are cared for. Their dedication makes a real difference, and our community is grateful for all they do.

When freezing temperatures forced Jessamine County schools to close this week, staff members braved the cold to ensure no student went hungry.

As you may know by now, Superintendent Crum has designated Tuesday and Wednesday as NTI days. We're thankful for the efforts of our county roads crew and hopeful we can get kids back in the buildings later this week.

As a precaution due to hazardous road conditions across the county, we are postponing tomorrow night’s board meeting to Tuesday, February 3. The safety of our staff, students and community always comes first and we appreciate your understanding.
