It is with sadness that we share the passing of Rusty Day-Taylor following a courageous and difficult battle with brain cancer.

Rusty served the citizens of Jessamine County as an Advanced EMT with excellence, compassion, and integrity. He was the type of provider who paid attention to the details that others might miss. His clinical insight, dedication to his patients, and commitment to the profession earned the respect of his coworkers and those he served.

While Rusty was a skilled clinician, those who knew him will remember him for much more. He brought energy into every room he entered. His infectiously fun personality, sense of humor, and ability to make people smile made him a valued friend and a cherished member of our EMS family. Whether on an ambulance, in the station, or around the table with coworkers, Rusty had a way of making even difficult days a little brighter.

Most importantly, Rusty’s greatest roles were not those he held in uniform. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud son, and a caring brother. The love he had for his family was evident to anyone who spent time with him.

As we mourn the loss of our friend and colleague, we ask that you keep Rusty’s family in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. While his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on this department, this community, and the people fortunate enough to know him will not be forgotten.

Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the countless lives made better by your presence, Rusty. We will miss you.
