Drug Arrest

On February 4th, 2025 a Nicholls Police Department patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Van Streat Hwy. just west of Rich Ave. The patrol officer smelled a strong odor of ma*****na and attempted to have the driver, Eddie Wertz, step out of the vehicle. Wertz placed his vehicle in drive and began fleeing the traffic stop. The patrol officer gave chase. The pursuit lasted approximately a mile before the vehicle stopped and Wertz was arrested. Approximately 3.6 ounces of ma*****na was seized as well as drug related objects.

Nicholls Police Department encourages all citizens with knowledge of illegal activities to report it as soon as possible to one of our officers.

Aline Smith has been apprehended at this time.

PRESS RELEASE!!!
On January 28, 2025 Nicholls Police Department conducted a search warrant on a residence on S. Meeks St. Through an extensive investigation officers found that Larry Page and Aline Smith have been involved in selling illegal drugs and pills for years. The search warrant allowed officers to find and seize several grams of Methamphetamine, most of which was individually bagged for sale. In addition to the m**h officers found several types of pills and ma*****na. Larry Page was arrested on scene, but Aline Smith remains at large.

Chief Wilson would like the citizens of Nicholls to know that "We will not stop at just one house. If you are entangled in a web of crime we will find you and we will do what is necessary to keep the citizens of Nicholls safe. This may be the end of one case, but it is the beginning of takedowns such as this one. We know where you are and what your are doing. We are coming for you!"

While Nicholls Police Department had a productive year in 2023, we plan to be much more proactive and involved in the community in 2024.

Though officers are not there the drive for toys continues. At the new Dollar General location in Nicholls you can donate toys in this beautifully decorated box.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to make our Trunk or Treat event successful. Nicholls Elementary School, CH Farm and Meats, Pineland Bank, and many more. We hope the community enjoyed spending time with us as much as we enjoyed spending time with them. Thank you again!
