Nichols Hills Fire Department Welcomes Our New Brush Pumper! 🚒

We are excited to announce the arrival of our new Brush Pumper, a versatile and capable addition to the Nichols Hills Fire Department fleet.

This apparatus gives our firefighters the ability to operate from inside the cab while fighting fires and is specifically designed to handle difficult and rugged terrain. It will be a reliable asset for our department and will also serve as an important resource as part of the Oklahoma County Task Force, allowing us to assist neighboring agencies when they need additional resources.

One of the most special aspects of this apparatus is its story. The chassis was generously donated by Oklahoma County, and a dedicated group of individuals from our department put in the time, hard work, and craftsmanship to build the remainder of the apparatus. In addition, Alpha One Firetrucks LLC brought all the ideas and designs to life, which as you can tell, did an outstanding job and highly recommend their services.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Nichols Hills City Council for purchasing the equipment necessary to outfit this unit and, as always, for their continued commitment to providing our firefighters with the tools and resources needed to keep our community safe.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Edmond Fire Department for allowing us to use their burn building for training. Opportunities like this are invaluable in helping us sharpen our skills and grow as a team.

During this training, we focused on search and rescue, fire attack, victim removal, and communication. These are critical components that help us better serve and protect our communities along with The Village Fire Department.

We truly appreciate your support and partnership in helping us train!

This past week, members of Nichols Hills Fire Department, alongside The Village Fire Department, participated in specialized training focused on trench rescue and both low- and high-angle rope rescue techniques.

These types of rescues require advanced skills in rope systems, patient packaging, and controlled lowering and raising operations—often in challenging environments such as confined spaces, elevated structures, or unstable terrain.

Ongoing training like this ensures our crews can operate safely, efficiently, and with precision when seconds matter most, helping us protect both our responders and the community we serve.
