🚨TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS🚨

We would like to extend our gratitude and a huge thank you to our residents for voting to approve the renewal of the fire department millage! Without that approval, we would have potentially faced station closures, layoffs, extended response times, and higher homeowners insurance rates for our residents.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to continue serving our residents and guests with rapid response times, quality service, and a high standard of care! Thank you!

🚒🚨REMINDER🚨🚒

Township residents, we need your help!

When you head to the voting booth tomorrow, we ask that you consider supporting the renewal of the fire millage!

This is NOT a request for a raise to the overall millage amount, it is simply a request to renew the previously established millage so that we can continue serving our citizens with the same level of care and service that we’ve been providing.

A little on the services we provide:

✅600+ calls per year, steadily increasing year over year
✅Guaranteed 2 personnel staffing, responding in 2 apparatus with 2,000 total gallons of water on all calls for service. This greatly increases outcomes in the event of a fire, and helps keep your homeowners insurance costs lower
✅Hundreds of smoke detectors installed yearly free of charge for our residents
✅Public fire safety education in our schools every year
✅Hundreds of burn permits given out yearly to our residents
✅Pre-incident planning at local businesses to better increase our preparedness in the event of a commercial incident

If the millage is not renewed, it could result in layoffs and/or station closures. This would drastically decrease response times, and could negatively affect homeowners insurance rates.

As always, we are profoundly grateful to be able to serve the citizens and guests of Niles Township 24/7 365! Please consider renewing the fire millage!

Today B-Shift is out doing pre-incident planning and walkthroughs of a local business. This helps firefighters prepare in advance, and gives them critical information about the layout of businesses in the event of a fire when seconds count.

This evening at 1840 hours, Niles Township Fire was dispatched to the area of Bertrand Road and Adams Road for a reported structure fire. Squad 14, Engine 14, and 67 Truck were dispatched on the full still alarm. Squad 14 arrived first due within minutes of dispatch to find a heavily involved garage fire with extension to the home, and a second alarm was struck on the box. Squad 14 set up an aggressive attack, and was able to rescue 2 cats and save the home.

Thanks to all of our mutual aid companies for the much needed assistance. All units knew their jobs and executed perfectly. Working and training together helps to yield positive outcomes on calls.

Tonight Niles Township Fire had the opportunity to participate in a public education event at a local church in our first due.

Both Squad 14 and Engine 14 participated, and the duty crew was able to speak with the kids about fire safety in the home, demonstrate some equipment, and even do a little water spraying demonstration! The kids had a great time, as did the duty crew.

Here at Niles Township Fire, we take great pride in being able to interact with our community members and to help spread fire safety!
