The Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities currently has an opening for a Service and Support Administrator (SSA) in its program. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected Board of DD and have a positive impact on the community they serve. Ideal candidates will assess needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, develop and monitor service plans, and ensure that services are effectively coordinated and provided. A Bachelors Degree in Education, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, or related program area is required; and applicants proficient with computers who also possess a working knowledge of, and experience with, the Home and Community Based Services waiver program are preferred. Will be required to obtain and maintain Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities certification for Service and Support Administrator. Comprehensive training provided. Preparing for a Medical Visit: What Families Need to Know

A good appointment starts before you arrive. Knowing what to expect, sharing how your loved one communicates, and understanding what helps them stay comfortable can reduce their anxiety and improve the care they receive.

The following tools and resources can help you and your loved one prepare for a medical appointment:

• Healthy Living Tools- These Charting the LifeCourse tools help you prepare for an appointment, stay organized, talk with your health care provider, and share your vision for healthy living. These tools can be shared with family, medical team, or anybody who supports your family.

• Mental Health Crisis Card- This communication tool, created by The Arc, can provide information about a person’s disability and mental health conditions, along with steps to help in stressful situations.

• 5 Things: Appointment Anxiety- Going to the doctor, dentist, or another appointment can make some people feel nervous or anxious. Watch the video above as DODD Medical Director, Dr. Laura Sorg, shares tips for navigating appointment anxiety.
