🚨 AMBULANCE ETIQUETTE: When We're at Your Neighbor's

Seeing an ambulance on your street can be alarming β€” here's how to be a good neighbor when we're there for someone else:

DO:
βœ… Give us space β€” stay back and let us work
βœ… Keep kids and pets inside or at a safe distance
βœ… Move your vehicle if it's blocking our path
βœ… Respect their privacy β€” it's not the moment for pictures or video

DON'T:
❌ Crowd the scene to see what's happening
❌ Block the street or driveway with your car
❌ Assume the worst and spread rumors before you know the facts
❌ Approach the crew with questions while they're working

A little space and privacy goes a long way for a neighbor having a hard day. πŸ’™

🚌 SCHOOL'S BACK β€” SLOW DOWN OUT THERE

With kids back on the roads, mornings and afternoons look a little different. A few reminders to keep everyone safe:

βœ… Stop for flashing lights β€” school buses mean business
βœ… Watch for kids darting out between parked cars
βœ… Slow down in school zones, even if you're running late
βœ… Give crossing guards and buses extra space and patience

A few extra seconds now could save a life later. πŸ’™

You never know what you’re walking into. That’s the job. πŸ’™

🚨 AMBULANCE ETIQUETTE: When EMS Comes to Your Workplace

Every second counts when paramedics walk through your doors. Here's how to help them help your coworker:

DO:
βœ… Post a greeter at the entrance β€” One designated person meets the crew and leads the way
βœ… Clear the path before we arrive β€” Prop doors, hold elevators, move obstacles
βœ… Give us space to work β€” Onlookers slow us down and take away the patient's privacy
βœ… Have information ready β€” Medications, allergies, emergency contacts, and what happened
βœ… Be specific β€” Floor, room number, and the fastest route to get there

DON'T:
❌ Make us hunt β€” "Somewhere on the second floor" costs time we don't have
❌ Leave us locked out β€” Waiting on security or keys isn't a small delay
❌ Let a crowd form β€” One person nearby is helpful. Ten people watching is not
❌ Assume we know the layout β€” Familiar buildings still need a guide

Pro tip: Build EMS access into your emergency drills. Assign greeters, map your fastest routes, and practice it before you need it. πŸ’™

🚨 AMBULANCE ETIQUETTE 🚨

Know the rules when we’re on the move:

πŸš‘ Lights & siren, approaching you? Pull to the right edge of the road and STOP until we pass

πŸš— We’re stopped on the roadside with lights on? Move over a full lane if you can

πŸ“ Can’t move over? Slow down 10 mph below the speed limit and give us as much room as possible

πŸ‘€ Stay alert β€” a few seconds could save a life

It’s Michigan law (MCL 257.653 & 653a) β€” and it’s just the right thing to do. πŸ’™

Every card, letter, and drawing on this board means something to us. πŸ’›

These thank-yous are a reminder of why we do what we do. Every β€œatta-boy” pinned here represents a life touched, a family supported, or a hard day made a little lighter by someone who showed up.

To everyone who’s ever taken the time to say thank you β€” we see it, we keep it, and we carry it with us on every call.

🚨 See Us Stopped on the Side of the Road? 🚨

If our ambulance is parked with lights flashing at a scene, here's how to keep everyone safe:

πŸš‘ Move over a full lane if you can do it safely
πŸš‘ If you can't change lanes, slow down significantly
πŸš‘ Keep your eyes on the road, not the scene β€” rubbernecking causes more accidents
πŸš‘ Give our crew room to move around the vehicle and load patients
πŸš‘ Never stop to ask questions or take photos β€” it puts everyone at risk

Michigan's Move Over Law applies to stopped emergency vehicles too. Slow down, move over, and help us help others. πŸ’™
