Looking ahead at this week's weather:

🌦️ Hot, humid air to our southwest meets mild, moist air to our northeast, resulting in numerous chances for showers and thunderstorms across our area as disturbances ride along the temperature gradient

🌡️ Heat & humidity peak Tuesday through Thursday, with heat indices potentially up to around 100° over southern/western PA

🌩️ A few storms may be severe midweek, with locally damaging wind gusts expected to be the main threat at this time

URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 632
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
315 PM EDT Thu Aug 27 2026

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Central Pennsylvania

* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 315 PM until 1000 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm coverage and intensity is expected to increase across the region this afternoon as a shortwave trough and attendant cold front approach from the west. Warm and moist conditions have fostered strong buoyancy across the region while increasing mid-level flow contributes to strengthening deep-layer vertical shear. These environmental conditions support the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail as the primary risks. A low-probability risk for a brief tornado or two exists as well.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

I invite you to join me for an e-recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 3, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at my district office located at 1000 Commerce Park Drive, Williamsport.

I’m working with Mamoth to host the event. As you can see by the flyer, some items you are able to recycle for free, while others require a small fee.

It’s nearly September and school is back in session. Remember, drivers must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses with red lights flashing and stop arm activated.

Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop.

If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children.
