Hey everybody, we need a recommendation!

We still need to get the bricks put in at the entrance to the new playground and we’d really like it done ASAP. Stix and Stones in Bowie was going to do it but that doesn’t seem to be working out. Who else can we ask to lay bricks at the entrance (not many - just a small pad at entrance) who will do a good job and get on it quickly?
Please reply here, message the playground, or message Sarah Renfro with any ideas. Thank you for the suggestions!

Paint Party at the Park!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Let’s show our gratitude for this great little community by helping beautify our park! Tuesday Nov. 26th join us at the park. Brian Waldrip has generously offered to lead a painting crew to repaint the of playground equipment and fencing around the park. The Nocona Playground Committee members will also be putting up our last few pickets and making a few repairs. And, of course, our awesome Nocona Lions Club members will be out there helping paint and maintain the park too as they have so graciously done for so many years. Love this town!

See you out there from 9 am until we're done!

I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to the guys and gals that braved the cold and came out to help us finish up the playground this weekend! With the exception of having the entrance bricks laid (which will be done soon) and a small handful of plaques and pickets that need to be corrected, WE ARE DONE! I wish I got pictures of the amazing people who showed up in the cold and helped us get this done. You Rock!

Also a special thank you to Erin Pearce for the new Little Free Library that she put up at the park! You can find this little Thomas the Tank Engine box near the entrance of the playground. She has stocked it with books to get it started. Please take your kids by and have them take a book! You can return that book or leave another behind to share with the kids of our community. This is such a great thing for Nocona. ❤️

Last call for pickets. For real this time!!

At the request of so many, we are putting in ONE FINAL ORDER of pickets for the new playground.
We have 118 blank pickets at the park that can be replaced with engraved pickets. They will be available on a first come, first served basis.
I will plan to place the next order at the beginning of July or when all have been claimed, whichever comes first. Let us know ASAP if you want any! You can comment here or send a message to us. If you know someone who doesn’t Facebook but you think they’d be interested, please pass the word!

Pickets are $50 each or 3/$100.
You can send an email to [email protected] and I will reply with a picket form or you can pick one up from Terah Bowles at Wells Fargo Monday-Wednesday. She can accept payments too. As picket forms are received, the names will go on to the order list. First come, first served!

Also, if you go to the park and do NOT find a picket you previously ordered, please let us know soon so we can get it ordered!

Happy Summer, everyone!

Missing Something?

We still have a wheelbarrow out at the playground that was loaned to us for the build. Let us know if you are missing one!

We had the most amazing group of volunteers this week. We want to attempt to calculate the volunteer hours put into this project. If you worked this week (and/or on last year’s build) would you please comment with your name and the number of hours you worked. Be sure and list all of your family members and each of their hours. If you prefer to message us that works too. THANK YOU for all of your hard work!

Day 6 (day 7 for some of us). Long week. Good week.

There is so much to say tonight, but I’m not ready to find the words. I am overwhelmed with all the wonder of the week and the completion of this grand adventure.

For those that donated tools, we will be available for tool pick up at the playground at 5:30 on Tuesday. If this doesn’t work for you, you can contact Zachary Renfro or Matt Fenoglio. Thank you for your generosity. We needed every one of those tools to make this happen!

So few pictures today because we were so busy there was hardly time to take any. That and I’d have to take my hands out of my gloves 🙈

This morning’s weather was brutal (windchill around 20 degrees), but our core crew of build captains, committed committee members, and some hard core volunteers were out there nonetheless. I wish I had a picture of every one of them. These folks are what community is all about. The spirit of civic duty and selfless giving can often seem hard to find. It is strong in these volunteers. These folks, y’all. These people are my heroes. These people restore my faith in humanity.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this project.

Though we’ve worked hard this week, we just didn’t have the volunteer numbers we needed to finish today. With a little help from some selfless people, we can get this done tomorrow. Are you with me?

Many of us will be there at 8 am.
We are asking our fellow residents (you, reading this now!) if they might come after church tomorrow (or any time you can) and offer an hour of your time to help us wrap this up.

See you at the park ❤️

We’ve got maybe 30 volunteers at the site today. The same people have been here all day and deserve a huge pat on the back! Better yet, they deserve some help! We really need a minimum of 50 volunteers out here to make this happen. Can you make it?
There is still a lot to do today! We can use anybody of any skill level!
It’s not even cold out here anymore 😊

We need youth today to move mulch!!! Please come out!
