Day 2 of the search for 67-year-old Dexter Irrigoo is now underway. Dexter is a vulnerable adult with dementia who was last seen at 8:20 AM on Sunday morning at the Patient Hostel East, Room #113 here in Nome. He was reported heading west on 6th Avenue and then South on K Street at 8:23am and has not been seen since.
Search efforts on Sunday were extensive. Drones covered a one-mile radius around the hospital and scanned the Icy View area, while ground teams searched areas all the way from the airport to Fort Davis. Crews also conducted a coordinated team walk through town—from N Street to the harbor. Despite these efforts, no new leads have been reported.
Search operations continue today, with helicopters, drones, and additional ground teams being deployed. The Nome Volunteer Fire Department is holding a search briefing at 9:00 AM at the fire hall, and community members who are able to assist are encouraged to show up and help.
Dexter was last seen wearing:
• Blue jeans
• A black jacket with green near the chest
• A green hat
• Black shoes
He is described as:
• 5’4” to 5’5” tall
• Around 130 pounds
• Shoulder-length black and gray hair
• A black mole on the side of his face
