USACE New Orleans District personnel worked alongside team members from St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation during the 2025 National Public Lands Day event held at the Bonnet Carre' Spillway in Norco, La., Sept. 27, 2025. Approximately 80 volunteers showed up to help pick up trash and plant approximately 150 bottomland hardwood tree species within the spillway. Thanks to everyone who help make this National Public Lands Day a success.

Just as a reminder, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans Dissitirct, is hosting its National Public Lands Day event this coming Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at the Bonnet Carre' Spillway in Norco, La. National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Held every year on the fourth Saturday of September, this day serves as an opportunity for bringing together individuals, students, families and groups of volunteers to pitch in and help maintain and restore America’s national public land areas. Join other volunteers for a time of planting trees and helping clean up trash in recreational areas of the Bonnet Carre' Spillway (see attached flier for contact/registration information).

The Bonnet Carre' Spillway Road between Norco and Montzreopened this morning. Motorists should use caution while travelling on this road, as Public Works will be making minor repairs.
