Ms. Deborah Stephenson (seated at center) of the Training Division retired this past Tuesday after 32 years of Government service, 18 of which have been with United States Coast Guard and all at FORCECOM! 👏👏👏
Ms. Stephenson stood at the forefront of learning and education development to support the Coast Guard's number one resource—its people. Her efforts transformed legacy training systems into modern, customizable solutions that put USCG on the cutting edge of learning and technology. Thank you for everything, Ms. Stephenson!

Did you know that Protecting Living Marine Resources is one of the 11 main Coast Guard missions?
The USCG Gulf Regional Fisheries Training Center - GRFTC, which is part of the FORCECOM training unit U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, is essential in training Coasties (as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Corps, and state and federal fish and wildlife agencies) to protect marine species to help their populations recover to healthy, sustainable levels. USCG helps safeguard the U.S. oceanic environment and the marine life that inhabits it by enforcing domestic and international fisheries laws.

On National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we honor the lives lost the morning of 7 December 1941 and the courage of those who responded.
Although from last year's 80th anniversary, this article by Dr. William H. Thiesen, PhD (Historian, U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area Command) remains a powerful look into the ways the Coast Guard supported the war effort before, during, and after the Pearl Harbor attack.

Cats played a role on Navy and Coast Guard vessels at one point in history. In 1943, Herman the cat would officially be commissioned by the military as an “Expert Mouser.” His primary duty was to control and extirpate the rodent population aboard the vessel. Like other Coast Guard members, Herman was issued an identification card for his hometown in Baltimore.
