In honor of this year’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, is highlighting LT Linda Li. LT Li is a spark plug of a woman bundled in quiet, professional package. This jet-setter is an integral member of the IMAT family.
We are going to miss her when she transfers out this year to her new unit: U.S. Coast Guard New York 🗽!
🎤: How long have you been in the CG?
LT Li: 4 years
🎤: What is your favorite CG memory?
LT Li: One of my most favorable memories was also one of my most challenging memories. Prior to IMAT, I served onboard one of the last 378s, CGC JOHN MIDGETT, and decommissioned her. I was one of the last JOs onboard, so I ended up absorbing majority of the collateral duties. The decommissioning process was long; I remember working long hours on projects that needed to be completed. But with the motivation and help of the last crew onboard the mighty MIDGETT, I was able to accomplish all remaining projects before handing her over to the Vietnamese CG. Upon departure and seeing her for the last time, it was one of the best accomplishments and feeling of satisfaction till this day.
🎤: What is your favorite thing about the IMAT?
LT Li: Getting to travel around the country✈️, including Puerto Rico and Guam, coaching/facilitating ICS during workshops, exercises, and deployments. I also really enjoy working with the awesome people at the unit.
🎤: What do you do other than the CG?
LT Li: Painting👩🏻🎨🎨🖼, watching crime shows🕵🏻♀️ and traveling/exploring other countries🗺 (I also traveled to Northern Ireland🇬🇧, Italy🇮🇹, Austria🇦🇹, Germany🇩🇪, and Switzerland🇨🇭while at the unit!)
