πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ Celebrating 44 years of Life and Legacy πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰

Hi Family,

As I step into my 44th year, I reflect on the essence of life: Serving Others. If you know me, you know that my heart beats for uplifting the community and nurturing the potential in our youth.

This year, instead of birthday wishes, I'm inviting you all to contribute to a cause very dear to my heart: The G.W.C. Brown Legacy Fund Scholarship. Our mission is to empower the next generation of African-American males to achieve their dreams through education and mentorship.

🎁 My birthday wish is to raise $5,000 to fuel this initiative further. Any contribution can foster significant changes, supporting endeavors like the "Alpha Scholars Academy" or our initiatives providing meals and back-to-school supplies during the holiday season.

Your support could be the beacon of hope and opportunity in someone's life. Let us come together and sow seeds of positivity and growth.

Thank you for being a part of my journey and helping build a promising future.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Carlos

🌟 Happy Labor Day! 🌟

Greetings, Norfolk families and community members,

Today, as we celebrate Labor Day, I want to highlight the immense value of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in our cherished public schools. Under the nurturing canopy of , we are laying solid foundations for promising futures in professional and technical fields.

CTE courses are more than just classes. They are a bridge that connects our students to fulfilling and prosperous careers. Through hands-on experience and skill development, our young learners are prepared to enter the workforce with confidence and expertise, ready to innovate and lead.

In this dynamic and evolving job market, the importance of CTE cannot be overstated. It allows our students to explore and excel in various fields, from healthcare and information technology to skilled trades and beyond. With every class, they are not just learning but paving the way for vibrant and robust career paths.

On this Labor Day, let's honor the labor of our diligent teachers, staff, and students who tirelessly work towards crafting a brighter and more prosperous future. Together, we nurture a generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers.

Join me in celebrating the transformative power of CTE and its pivotal role in shaping dynamic, resourceful, and accomplished individuals. Here's to a future brimming with opportunities and success!

πŸ—³οΈ In a welcome affirmation of our national commitment to democracy and the principle of 'one person, one vote,' the rejected the 'independent state legislature' theory in its Moore v. Harper ruling.

"As the National Urban League and other civil rights organizations argued in the amicus brief we filed in this case, state courts provide an essential avenue of relief for voters of color. Adoption of the independent state legislature theory would encourage states to enact burdensome, confusing, and inconsistent rules for simultaneously held state and federal elections, forcing voters to navigate arbitrarily complex procedures to ensure their voices are heard in all elections.

"With this decision, the justices have thwarted an ongoing and insidious campaign to disenfranchise voters, dilute the power of their votes and ultimately establish one-party rule unchecked from judicial review.

β€œWhile this decision is encouraging, it does not reduce the need to pass federal voting rights protections. We urge Congress to protect voting rights by passing the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act." -- Marc H. Morial

I had an awesome time supporting our students, faculty, and staff this morning at the BTW Sports Legends Student Achievement Assembly. It was an honor to meet James "Bonecrusher" Smith a former WBA Heavyweight Title Holder (1986-87), Coach Charlie Hatcher the first African American Basketball Coach at Norview High School who was credited with integrating sports across NPS, and Jonny Walton former NFL Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback. The students also where entertained by the U.S. Army Jazz Band and learned more about active duty & reserve options with the U.S. Army. Great Job Dr. Ford and Team BTW! The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. πŸ‘
