Let's support Minneapolis and other American cities that are under attack by ICE and its thugs with our voices and prescence on Saturday. It is expected to be cold, but that has not stopped the brave folks in Minneapolis from protesting. See you there!

We were honored that Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas joined us at our monthly meeting. Secretary Thomas updated us on her office's efforts to improve voting access in CT and to educate voters about participating in the democratic process. Oh, and is running for re-election again! We are so lucky to have Paul Honig representing us in Hartford. We hope you will donate so he can qualify for the Citizen's Election Program.

Today I am officially announcing my reelection campaign for State Senator in the 8th District, representing the towns of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Hartland, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury, and parts of Granby, Harwinton, and Torrington.

I’m proud of what we accomplished in my first year. We passed a responsible budget with no new taxes, preserved recent tax cuts for middle-class families, and made historic payments toward our unfunded pension liabilities. We made a major investment to lower the cost of child care, and we passed the Ratepayers First Act, which will reduce electricity bills by $800 million over the next three years. While meaningful progress has been made, there is still more work ahead.

It’s an honor to serve as Co-Chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, serving those who have served our country. In 2025, our committee had a highly productive year, with 18 bills voted out of committee, passed by both the House and Senate, and signed into law. These bills will have a meaningful impact on the lives of veterans and military families.

I ran for the State Senate because I care deeply about the future of our state and want to serve the people of this district. Over the past four years, I’ve spent countless hours traveling the district—mainly on my bike—talking directly with residents in all 11 towns. I knocked on more than 20,000 doors to listen to your priorities, concerns, and ideas. One message came through loud and clear: the high cost of living is putting significant strain on families throughout our region.

That’s why affordability will remain a central focus of my work as the next legislative session begins in February.

I am deeply grateful to the voters of the 8th District for placing their trust in me. I hope to once again earn that trust and your vote on November 3rd, 2026 as I seek another term serving our community. I look forward to another productive legislative session and to continuing to connect with residents throughout the district in the months to come.

Sen. Murphy is always spot on with his messaging, but we just love that hat!
