Project Homeless Connect started in San Francisco and has extended now to over 220 communities. It is a one-day event that connects homeless and near homeless individuals to needed services, including: housing, healthcare, legal resources, Social Security, food-stamp benefits, and employment. Government agencies, non-profit agencies, local businesses, volunteer groups, medical providers, legal exp
erts and many other service providers come together at Our Savior Lutheran Church to offer on-site immediate assistance to individuals who otherwise may not be able to access these services. It is not uncommon for those individuals who live in poverty to not have the means or the resources to get to multiple locations to get the help they need. Project Homeless Connect Norfolk offers all of these services under one roof. Each individual coming into Project Homeless Connect Norfolk will be assigned a Navigator that will help them identify their top needs and will assist them throughout the event. Before exiting Project Homeless Connect Norfolk, each individual will have an exit plan that will include any follow-up or additional appointments and resources.
