You certainly don’t want to miss these breathtaking paintings by Donna Davis, on display at the Library for the month of June. This transportive exhibition features primarily oil paintings, as well as several watercolor and acrylic paintings, all of which convey a life-like expression of light and space. Donna shares in her artist statement that, “I’ve been painting since there was an art school on the top floor of the Brooklyn Museum. In addition, I took classes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Cooper Union, the New School, and Parson’s School of Design, all while I was working in NYC, teaching college math in high school and high school math in college. There is a strong relationship between math and art. Math is largely about the relationships of variables. For example, motion, stillness, and colors affecting one another make the world of the canvas vibrant and alive.”
