πŸ” ANNUAL COOKOUT 🌭

Yesterday members of the Norfolk Fire Department were proud to cook for the annual Fire Safety Cookout at the Norfolk Senior Center. Firefighters enjoyed grilling hot dogs and hamburgers while spending time with members of the community.

We would also like to thank the Norfolk Police Department for joining us for yesterday’s event. We appreciate everyone who came out and look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

🐎 HORSE RESCUE 🚨

Today Norfolk Firefighters assisted with helping free a horse that was wedged between two fences, and was unable to move. A full recall was transmitted bringing the response of C2, Engine 2, Ambulance 3, and Rescue 5.

Firefighters assisted by cutting the fence with the use of hydraulic cutters. Once the horse was freed, fire hose was used to help lift the horse from the ground. This successful outcome wouldn’t have been possible without multi-agency teamwork.

πŸš’ 🏠 TRAINING πŸͺ“ πŸš’

Today, Norfolk Firefighters conducted training evolutions at an acquired structure scheduled for demolition. We would like to thank Mark Andrade for generously allowing our department to use the property for valuable hands-on training prior to demolition.

During the training, firefighters practiced ground ladder and roof ladder deployment, roof ventilation operations using saws, and forcible entry techniques.

Training opportunities like this are invaluable in helping our firefighters sharpen critical skills and remain prepared to serve and protect the community. We sincerely appreciate Marks support of the Norfolk Fire Department.

πŸ”” 3rd Alarm πŸ””

Yesterday at approximately 5:50 PM Norfolk Fire was dispatched mutual aid to the Town of Millis for a structure fire. Norfolk C1, C2, Engine 2, and Tank 1 responded to the fire. This fire quickly rose to 3 alarms due to the extent of the fire. Wind caused the fire spread to other structures and also resulted in a brush fire. Crews were on scene extinguishing the structures and the brush fire.

We would like to thank Foxborough Fire who provided station coverage until off-duty Norfolk Firefighters were able to respond for coverage.

At approximately 1:17 PM Norfolk Fire was dispatched to a residence on Holbrook St for reported smoke inside of the house, and a full recall was transmitted. Norfolk Fire Departments response included: C2, Engine 2, Engine 1, Tank 1, Squad 2, and Ambulance 3. Mutual aid response included Wrentham, Medway, Franklin, Plainville, and an EMS standby by Bellingham. An engine from Foxboro provided station coverage during the incident. Earlier today, Norfolk Firefighter/Paramedics participated in a career fair at KP High School, alongside members from Wrentham and Plainville Fire Departments.

Firefighters spoke with students and answered questions about careers in fire and emergency medical services.
Students also had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience performing CPR using training mannequins.

We’d like to thank the KP staff for inviting us to take part in this event. It was a valuable experience for both students and firefighters. Notably, two of the Norfolk firefighters who attended are KP alumni and enjoyed connecting with students.

πŸš‘ Motor Vehicle Crash πŸš—
πŸš’ Water Leak 🚨

After the structure fire yesterday, Norfolk Fire responded to two separate notable incidents later in the shift.

A serious head on motor vehicle collision occurred on Pine St. One of the occupants required the use of hydraulic spreaders to be removed from the vehicle. This resulted in an Advanced Life Support transport Boston Medical Trauma Center. Pictured below is Norfolk Ambulance 1 parked at the ambulance bay.

Firefighters were dispatched to the library for an alarm activation. Upon arrival firefighters determined an issue with the sprinkler system, and that there was a water leak in the building sprinkler system. Firefighters mitigated the water leak and prevented further water damage. Repairs have been made and the sprinkler system is repaired.
