Happy Fathers day!

Hello all,

We are almost there! Only a little over three weeks until we get back to Norfolk, and we are all looking forward to our return. Our crew has been working harder than usual, and we have accomplished quite a bit on this side of the Canal. The Pacific is a busy place for drug smugglers, and we are doing our best to put a sizeable dent in their merchandise that makes its way to the States.

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to cross the Equator during one of our patrols. This is a time-honored Naval tradition that comes with a very unique ceremony. We have not had a chance to do the ceremony yet, but that will come once we are off mission and headed home. We are very much looking forward to turning these slimy wogs we have on board into hardened shellbacks before we return home!

On a different note, I wanted to take the time to wish a very Happy Fathers Day to all of the Fathers out there (including myself). We have a few Dad’s onboard here that haven’t even met their new children yet. I know they are all looking forward to seeing their kids for the first time, and I know their Mom’s are excited for Dad to take some of the load off of them!

I know our page has been off and on over the past two weeks. Its not for lack of trying, we have had some issues uploading pictures. We are working hard trying to solve the problem, but it still won’t work for us. Once we have the opportunity, we will post what we have taken so you can all enjoy the hard work our Sailors have been doing.

Only three weeks left!

Very Respectfully,
Commander Keith Woodley
Executive Officer, USS Kauffman
